This is not a test of the Fashion Emergency System.

Have you seen these flip-flops? )

My beloved denim rhinestone flip-flops from Target are wearing out. They haven't broken yet, but the soles are so compressed that they kind of hurt now. Over the last year, I've searched for another pair, but it looks like no one makes them anymore. With flip-flop season drawing near again, I'm expanding the search. Please keep an eye out when shoe shopping! I think I paid $5 for these, but I'm willing to pay more than they're worth if I can find something similar. If only I'd known how much I was going to love these, I'd have bought a few more pairs when I had the chance.

Thank you. :)

ETA: These are promising!

Today feels long. I haven't taken a lunch, because I'm leaving at 4:00 and meeting Evan at the county clerk's office to get our marriage license. Once we have that, we can technically get married anytime we want. :)

I have nothing worthwhile to share today, but I do have some CD-ROMs of old pictures here, so for your entertainment: Random Cat Photos )

I think this caption is even funnier than the picture.

I feel bad about the amount of time I've spent on LJ today. Well, tomorrow is another day.

I had fun this weekend. On Friday night I went to a game party at Lance's house. (Lance is part of our weekly lunch group.) I got to meet his girlfriend, who's also my neighbor! She's very nice. It's good to know someone in the neighborhood. On Saturday I went to Goat Days with Ryan and Luke (Myla was busy with her face-painting booth) and had a good old country time. After discovering that the Tigers game wasn't until seven, we decided to go home and then reconvene at the game. I'm so glad I got to go, because it was incredible. We have a winning team. The whole atmosphere of the stadium is different. I've been going to these games for seven years, and I don't think I've ever seen such an excited crowd. We actually left in the fourth quarter, because we were all exhausted and it was obvious we were going to win- and we did, 52-21! Yay!

Yesterday was my and Evan's anniversary. He has a new manager at work who's messing up everyone's schedule, so he had to go to work right after church. I was sad not to spend the day with him, but it was probably good because I got to take a nap. :) In the evening I went to IPC to hear Adolph Coors, the head of Coors Brewery, give his testimony. Yes, he's a Christian! It was very moving - he's had a lot of tragedy in his life. Evan met me there once he was finished with work, and we went to Macaroni Grill! :D It was great. I can't believe it's already been a year...it's flown by, which I guess is good. I am so glad we get to have many more years together. *cartoon hearts*

I don't really have anything else to say today.

Wedding Week #1 begins. Excitement is in the air. Many things are in the works. Here are some important (to me) things that happened this weekend:

- Evan took me to see The Terminal. It was the best movie I've seen since Return of the King. I think this movie is to me what Lost In Translation was to a lot of people. I expected it to be good since it's Tom Hanks (the most brilliant actor of our time, in my opinion), but I didn't expect to be so moved and drawn into the story. This movie has so much to say about so many things- friendship, perseverance, patience, self-sacrifice, love. It's amazing. I already want to see it again. Of course, now that I've said this, you'll all see it and think it's boring. But to me it was really an experience.

- I bought my entertainment center at Wal-Mart. I ended up getting a different one than the one I had liked previously. It was $50 cheaper and much nicer-looking. We're planning to put it together tonight, but since there have been some problems with Kathy and Daniel's new apartment (basically, management didn't fix up the apartment after the last occupant), we might not be able to move things to make room for it. I hope we can, though. I'm antsy to get the process going already! New decor, yay!

- Both of my bridesmaid dresses are altered and ready to go, thanks to my mom. On a whim, she also made me a skirt in about ten minutes while I was standing there. I'm wearing it today. It's fuschia, has yellow and white flowers on it, and looks like it came from a store. She has an amazing talent. Too bad none of it rubbed off on me. :P

- Most exciting: Casey mentioned after church last night that someone had, without her knowledge, submitted an article she'd written to several Christian magazines- and one of them had accepted it. She was like, "Yeah, you've probably never heard of it...it's called...Relevant?" Of course I went nuts and started exclaiming about how I link to Relevant, and have thought about submitting something to them but have no idea what to write about. She was really flattered that I thought it was such a big deal. I mean, how exciting is that? I told you Casey was cool! :D Anyway, here's her article. It's on "The Venus Flytrap," on which topic she's developed a seminar and has taught it at summer conference for two years. It's geared toward women and is kind of blunt, just so you're aware.

Some very special pictures. )

Happy Birthday to Laura! Hope Prisoner of Azkaban is a good birthday present. :) I'm excited about the movie, but bummed that I didn't have time to read the book again. Now I won't be as aware of all the changes.

I just walked over to Italian Fest with one of my co-workers. We met up with her husband, and his company had a booth there, so we ate a delicious lunch for free! Lately I've been eating big lunches, which leads to guilt when I still eat moderate dinners. I have no self-control. None. I need a world where only celery and lettuce is served.

Yesterday seemed like a good day to spend my Target giftcard on another season of Friends. After scanning through an episode guide I decided I wanted Season 3. Of course, when I got to Target, they had every season except 3. I guess I'll go back next week.

Evan makes me so happy. :) He is the best boyfriend in the world.

Finally, thanks to Lawson, I now have a picture to share of the Fake Tornado. It doesn't look as impressive as it did in other shots, but it's still pretty cool. Smokenado )
