educational and fun
Feb. 20th, 2004 02:56 pmWell, my day started bleah like every other day this week, but it has since brightened considerably. The weather is beautiful today, sunny and warm. I like the jean skirt I'm wearing. At lunchtime I went to Target again and ended up with a pair of brown boots ($5.50!) and, two years after moving in, a valance curtain for my living room. It's a Waverly pattern with blue flowers, and I can't wait to go home and put it up...I hope it fits. (Fellow LM Montgomery fans: Does shopping for curtains make you think of Valancy? She's one of my favorite heroines, but I could never name a daughter after her. I'd see a window treatment in my head whenever I called her in for dinner.) Also, we just got new printers at work, and I get one all to myself! I wasn't expecting that, so it's pretty exciting. Suddenly I feel more energized about my work. Or it could be the Diet Vanilla Coke.
Gandalf and I had a fun morning playtime today. His current favorite toy is a feathery thing on the end of a fishing-rod type thing. All I have to do is stand there waving it around, and he goes nuts. I had never seen a cat jump that high.
Important Hair News: I switched from my standard Curl Vive spray gel to the new Fructis spray gel. It smells wonderful, but I think it's too lightweight for my hair...there's more frizz going on than usual. Very disappointing.
Evan has to work all weekend. I'm trying not to be sad and whiny about it. My sister is coming home today, so that balances things out. Sometimes you just need time with the hermana. She called a while ago to say she was on her way. I like the drive between Memphis and Nashville, because it divides nicely into thirds, landmark-wise: the Tennessee River, Jackson, and then Memphis. Or the opposite way. There's your geography lesson for the day. Here's another one for free: McLean Avenue, a few miles from where I sit, is the 90th parallel (line of longitude). Future visitors to Memphis, let me know if you want to visit this geographically crucial street. :)
Tonight I will hopefully go to McAlister's (yay!) and maybe also to Michael's to get a crochet hook and some yarn. What size hook do you crafties recommend?
