Pitching My Tent: On Marriage, Motherhood, Friendship, and Other Leaps of Faith by Anita Diamant
A series of essays/articles on the aforementioned topics, which were written over a period of several years. I don't necessarily agree with all her views, but I enjoyed it. Also, I think Jewish culture is really cool.

Who Moved My Cheese? by Spencer Johnson
The classic corporate parable about confused mice, which I had never read. My dad got a copy at his work and loaned it to me. It's clear and to the point and I know several people who need to read it. :P :)

L'Abri by Edith Schaeffer
I'm on a Schaeffer kick. This is the story of L'Abri, the Schaeffers' home/community that they started in Switzerland. It's a place for people who are spiritually searching to come and stay and have their questions answered. There are several branches now in different countries. I know a guy who went to the one in England - I need to track him down and ask him about it because now I'm super interested. Anyway, the story of how it all came to be is inspiring. I can honestly say it changed my perspective about God's leading and provision.

Sacred Influence by Gary Thomas
Gary Thomas is the author of Sacred Marriage, my favorite book about marriage (and I've read plenty). I like his realistic attitude and practical advice from a Biblical perspective. This book specifically for Christian wives was excellent, but a little hard to take. I'd go into further detail, but I wouldn't explain it right and would probably just start an argument. So read the book yourself if you're interested. :)

Certain Girls by Jennifer Weiner
This is the sequel to Good in Bed, picking up many years later. Cannie is planning her daughter's bat mitzvah and her past comes back to haunt both of them. It's definitely for adults, but I still like JW even though she gets a little too rough for my taste sometimes. She has a naturally funny writing style and her characters are very real and likable. I still recommend In Her Shoes or Little Earthquakes if you want to try her out. :)

Books for October: 5
2008 year to date: 79

So, not a stellar month. I guess I won't make it to 100 books this year. :( November will be even less impressive because I'll be too busy...writing a novel. Gulp.
