Happy Arbor Day! Don't forget to celebrate trees today. My office is giving away blue spruce seedlings in a tube. I took one, even though I don't have anywhere to plant it. I wish I had a yard! Someone suggested I plant it in a big pot, so I might try that. It can live on the front porch for a while. All the more reason to visit Garden Ridge tomorrow. :) The forecast for tomorrow looks bad, so I've decided not to go to the Fest. If the rain clears up around Switchfoot's showtime, I might go downtown and stand on the bluff above the park- I'm told you can hear just as well from there.

So those Gap tank top commercials are intriguing. I'm glad to see that they're advocating better coverage, but wouldn't two or three layers of tank tops get kind of hot? Thus defeating the purpose of a tank top? Oh well...I'm still sorely tempted to buy some. I like the colors.

Friends last night....waaaah! Did anyone else feel bummed all night after seeing it? The finale will be two hours! They need that time to wrap things up, but wow. That's like a movie! I'm sure I'll be crying the whole time, even though I keep telling myself it's just a TV show. I feel pathetic.

Oh, and another thing about trees: wouldn't it be so romantic to plant a tree with your significant other? Especially to commemorate something, like planting a tree together on the day he proposes. Then that can be "your tree" and you can visit it when you're old and remember the romance of your youth. I just thought of that. :)

In a few minutes I have to go to the eye doctor again. Apparently you can't just pick up your contacts anymore. You have to have an appointment to pick up your contacts, ensuring maximum waste of your time. What is the world coming to? I'll be back later, hopefully with something less worthless to say.

Today is Wednesday, and not Tuesday! I'm so thrown off. Tonight I have flute practice (our trio is scheduled for Sunday morning) and then Evan and I will go to Free Scoop Night. I see it's gained quite a following. :) Ice cream: bringing people together. It couldn't be a better night for it, since my throat is still hurting. I'm trying to stave off the full sickness with Sudafed, but since these sinus attacks come every 2-3 months now, I know the signs. One of them is that I lose my appetite and only want cold drinky things like milkshakes and smoothies. It's weird. Anyway, Free Scoop Night is my personal kickoff to summer. Yay!

One thing I like about my job is getting to open hotels in our database system. I only get to do it once in a while because it's really my co-worker's job. Once I open a hotel, I send a notification e-mail to both of our corporate offices...thousands of people! It's the only time I ever feel powerful at work. Helen says I'm famous because of it. :)

Myla has invited me to go to Music Fest with her on Saturday to see Switchfoot. Sister Hazel, Fuel, Collective Soul, and Journey are also playing (some of them at the same time). The tickets aren't too expensive, so I'll probably go, but I'm not as thrilled about it as I was in years past. Crowds of drunk people are not my thing. Plus, it's hard to get very close to the stage. I hate shelling out money and then getting stuck a mile from the band I came to see. Oh well...I still have time to think about it.

Well, Drunk Man's insurance company called me back, and I'm taking my car to the auto body tomorrow. They're also providing me with a rental car, which my dad says is the least they can do. Everything has gone very smoothly so far. It almost seems too easy. *knocking on wood*

I notice Lawson isn't around today. How many think he's taking his 50th vacation day of the year and/or is still asleep? Show of hands? :) I swear...I get one week a year and have to hoard it like gold, and he gets to go, "Gee, there's a game on today. I think I'll stay home." And yes, Lawson, I know that you have to take it or lose it, so please, no lectures. :)

The lineup for Memphis in May was announced this morning. I'm kind of disappointed; last year was better (and I didn't even get to go). On Friday we have India Arie, John Mayer, and (Shana, our favorite guy) Joe Cocker (whom I would only go see to throw tomatoes at him). On Saturday there's Ingram Hill (woo hoo!), Willie Nelson, Jack Johnson, 3 Doors Down, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Sheryl Crow. And on Sunday night we have Nickel Creek, the B-52s, and Default. I know Luke and Myla will want to see Nickel Creek, so I might end up going then, but Saturday seems like the best deal. Ryan's office building is right on the bluffs, though, so we might just listen from up there. :)

I'm helping Ryan move on Saturday. He's moving in with our (male) friend Ashley from church. It's going to be strange not to see him and Evan in the same apartment anymore. Evan is moving in with an (in my opinion) questionable friend from their mudding group. I may never see him again once he moves, which I guess won't be any new loss since I never see him anyway.

But American Idol is on tonight! That will make everything okay. :)

They have announced the lineup for music fest, and I think I'm gonna have to break down and get a 3-day pass. :P Here's who I want to see:
Friday: Saliva, Better than Ezra
Saturday: Incubus, Hoobastank, Bonnie Raitt, Hootie and the Blowfish, Ingram Hill, and Puddle of Mudd (woo hoo) :)
Sunday: Counting Crows, Bush, Stone Temple Pilots
The problem is, I know none of my friends are going to want to get a 3-day, so I will have to find different people to go with me on different days. And if I can't, I shouldn't get a 3-day because it's not really safe to go alone. So who wants to come with me? :)

I have been busy. Hence, no writing.
I went on my first business trip, to New Orleans, last week. It was more fun than I had expected. Lots of sightseeing and good food, and not much business. :) I even got to see Em while I was there! Yay! Then I got to Come Home to my own place for the first time. I was so excited to be home that I did a week's worth of cleaning in about 3 hours. Then I collapsed. :)
The weather here has been extremely weird. I can understand the confused trees that are trying to bud early. After just a week of sunshine and 70 degrees, my body has gone into Spring (Party)Mode. I am buzzing with thoughts of tank tops, a new swimsuit, Redbirds games, and Summer Conference!!! This is very unfortunate, it being January. The temperature is supposed to drop again tonight, and I'm not sure I will be able to switch back. I am enjoying having my windows open all the time. I do not want winter anymore. I want April or May. NOW!!!
I am also looking forward to MusicFest, as this is the first year that I will not be moving or graduating at that time. If they do not come up with someone good (Kid Rock does not fall under "good,") I will be mad.
It's time to go to a conference call. Yay! (Everything is yay these days.) :)
