Nobody likes you when you're twenty-three and you still act like you're in freshman year...
- Blink-182, What's My Age Again?

I'm twenty-three now, but will I live to see twenty-four?
- Coolio, Gangsta's Paradise

I'm assuming so. :) Anyway, I wanted to make one more post before tomorrow. My friend Casey told me that twenty-four was her best year. Maybe it will be for me, too. I find that the intensity of my life has increased with my age. Do you know what I mean? My highs are higher and my lows are lower. Big things, like marriages and births and deaths, happen more and more often. I guess this is part of adulthood. It's something I hadn't really thought about until recently.

I bought two pairs of shoes on my lunch break. But they were on sale! One is a pair of one-strap brown heels. I've been wanting some more "dainty" shoes for a while, and they were ridiculously cheap. I think I should just have my checks deposited at Target to save time.

Emily's birthday is tomorrow. We were born eight hours apart. She's a faithful reader of my journal, so I have something for her. :)

Em and I have been friends since we met in the dorm in fall 1997. The first time I remember talking to her, she mentioned that she was born in Lebanon. I was like, "Wow! Lebanon! How cool!" I later found out that she meant Lebanon, Tennessee. :) Anyway, things only got better from there. We have been through countless classes, road trips, boy troubles, exercise videos, maids named Consuela, religious denominations, joys, and hardships together, and even though our roommate days are over, she will always be one of my best friends. Happy Birthday, Em! I love you!

Oh, look, I'm crying in my cubicle again. I'm a dork.

New shoes!??? YAY! I love shopping for shoes. Anyway- I was just wondering where you go to church and where you went to high school cause my college roommate was from Memphis. I was in Memphis to be in her wedding last December- it's a pretty snazzy town. :-) The rehearsal dinner was at a really good barbecue place- Porky's maybe? Can't remember... anyway- Christi graduated from ECS in Memphis.

Talk of Memphis this, Memphis that. Meanwhile, Marc Cohn croons on for the fourth time today—and I keep thinking, Brenda!

Happy Aging, dear. :) Oh-so-typical to my person, I failed to submit my thoughts to Jessica's stockpile. Perhaps, here and now, I do not know you well enough to say anything apart from, Thank-you, you've been a blessing, hope the day was grand. :)

It's Corky's. :) Oh, I know tons of people who went to ECS. What year did she graduate? I went to Kirby, the high school in the hood. And I go to Grace Evangelical Church.

I'm glad you like Memphis!

Corky's!!!!!!!!! Of course, I remember now. ;-) She graduated in '99 and we roomed together at Covenant College. Greatest roommie ever! She goes to River Oaks I think, but then- we all know how well I remember the name of Corky's.

LOL! Yeah, Riveroaks is fairly near my church. My former RUF campus minister went there. I probably don't know her, but I bet someone I know does. :)

:D Thanks!

I'm assuming you have the song on repeat or something, since I don't think the radio stations play it that much anymore. :)

I hope you continue to have a delightful birthday.
and what better self-birthday present is there than affordable shoes?
That's one nice thing about growing older. The numbers and styles of shoes we possess don't get too small - instead they multiply ;)

:) I love you too Brens!

Uhm, isn't 24 also the name of that show with Keifer Sutherland? Maybe you could watch all 24 episodes of it from the first season to celebrate your 24th birthday, or something! hehe :P

Have a nice birthday Brenda! :)
