I'm back! Did you miss me?

My trip was okay. There were fun parts, but overall I was just counting the minutes until I could come home. The drive down was uneventful. The five of us had Thanksgiving alone with my grandmother and then watched the Dolphins kick some Cowboy rear. On Friday we drove to Seguin (one of the weirdest place names ever) to prepare for my cousin's wedding. We weren't invited to the rehearsal dinner, so we had dinner with my grandmother, my cousin Cliff, and his wife Rachael (they're the ones who got married in August). Saturday was the wedding. Reportedly 800 people (no, that is not a typo) were invited- I'd say there were about 300 at the reception. Unbelievable. I got to see my other cousins, Brooke and Keith, who were attendants. It was definitely a Texas wedding. The reception dancing consisted of country music, which I don't mind, but most of it was really old- we're talking waltzes and polkas. Debra and I, who were in the mood to get crunk, begged the DJ to play some Nelly or something. After a couple of hours he played YMCA and Funky Cold Medina. Then he went right back to the snoozefest. Oh well...it was fun to spend time with my cousins. The next morning we left the hotel at 5:30 am. We didn't get home until almost 8:00 last night. Thankfully, Cliff and Rachael were caravaning with us, and I rode with them for the majority of the trip back. I got to know Rachael better- which was great, because with my mother around all the time, I hadn't gotten a chance to talk to her as a fellow adult. :P I feel much more cousiny with her now, so all's well that ends well.

Now that I'm home I'm in total Christmas mode. Last night I tried to download Christmas music from mp3.com, but it was so slow that I gave up. I hate browser-based download sites. I just made a tracklist for my Perfect Christmas CD. I'm debating just buying the tracks from iTunes, but I know some of these must be posted legally somewhere. :P If any of you have Christmas songs uploaded somewhere, please let me know.

Christmastime Is Here - Vince Guaraldi
O Holy Night - Clay Aiken
Little Drummer Boy - Whitney Houston
For Unto Us a Child Is Born - from Handel’s Messiah

I'm sure there are others I forgot, but those are my favorites that I can think of. I do already have a few of these. Anyone have recommendations?

I bought "A Charlie Brown Christmas" from the iTunes Music Store from Apple. It's legal and $0.99/song or $9.99 for most CDs. They've got a decent selection, even got a nice Jars of Clay song there a while back.

I missed you too! I was thinking of you and wondering how you were doing.

Get crunk (verb): To dance, thrash or otherwise gyrate to ghetto-type music by Nelly, 50 Cent, or other such rap/R&B artist. Practiced frequently in Memphis. Often combined with "represent," as in "It's time to get crunk! It's time to represent! 2003, what time is it?"

(I went to high school in the hood. I tutor in the inner city. This is the kind of stuff I know. :))

Brens got crunk. You go girl! *g*

I LOVE Christmas music...I have tons of cds. I recommend "Strange Way to Save the World" by 4Him, "Mary's Song (Breath of Heaven)" by Amy Grant, "Still the Greatest Story Ever Told" by the Gaither Vocal Band, "Little One" (by either the GVB, Ivan Parker or the Oak Ridge Boys), and anything old! LOL! (I love all the old classics, like Bing's White Christmas, Brenda Lee, etc.)

You mentioned several of my favorites already! =)

For Unto Us a Child Is Born!! Squee!! -this has always been my favourite from Handel’s Messiah. Most people prefer the Halleluja-choir, but this is the one that always gives me goosebumps up and down both legs when I hear it. *sigh* :) Now I want to go listen to it, but unfortnately I'm leaving for work shortly, so no time.

Other recommendations... Cliff Richard has some really great Christmas songs. I especially enjoy "Mistletoe and Wine", "Little Town of Bethlehem", "Saviour's Day" and "We Should be Together for Christmas".

Can you tell I used to be a huge fan of Cliff? ;-)

Welcome back. It's good to see you :)

haha, I was just looking the bowls up, and yep, there is a New Orleans Bowl, I guess they are separate things.

I can't believe UM might end up playing Ohio State again...I'm almost afraid, it would be upseting to lose twice..haha.
