Happy Tuesday!

This week I am going to have a lot of time to myself. Why, you ask? Evan is sick. :( He doesn't want us to see each other until he is well, lest we begin a cycle of getting each other sick. Unless I get sick too- then we can get better together. He ended our conversation last night with, "I hope you feel like crap tomorrow." Ah, love. :) My throat is slightly sore and I'm a little tired, but no big deal. I guess my immune system is stronger. Yay for daily orange juice! I think he'll be fine by tomorrow, anyway.

And now, a fun survey from my bookalicious friend [livejournal.com profile] seekinghim.

What is your favorite book now? I think everyone knows it's Return of the King. My two non-Tolkien favorites are Little Women and The Blue Castle by L.M. Montgomery. When I read TBC for the first time, I made myself read it slowly and savor it, because I already knew it was going to be one of my favorite books.
..10 years ago? Fortune's Bride by Jane Peart - book 3 in the Brides of Montclair series. The male romantic lead was named Graham, and at the time I was mooning over my first boyfriend, whose name was Graham. Projection, anyone? :)
...20 years ago? I would have been 4, so probably a Berenstain Bears book, or Hop On Pop.
What book made you laugh out loud? The Princess Diaries books. Hilarious.
What book made you cry? Here are my three all-time weeping books: Rilla of Ingleside by L.M. Montgomery, My Sergei by Ekaterina Gordeeva (a must for figure skating fans), and Where The Red Fern Grows (which I have only read once, but it made me so sad I couldn't sleep afterward).
What book shocked you? I can't remember the name, but there was a "sequel" to The Secret Garden a few years ago that was just awful. Mary was messing around with Colin and Dickon, and then Colin turned out to be gay, and...um...really disturbing stuff ensued.
What book have you thrown across the room? Wanted to throw? Some Nicholas Sparks book- I think it was The Notebook. My apologies to any Sparks fans (I did like the Walk To Remember movie), but I could have written better than him when I was nine. He has a really immature, simplistic style. Maybe that's his allure. I don't know.
What book were you unable to finish? Most recently, The True Woman by Susan Hunt. Overall, a lot of theology books. I check them out with good intentions, but I just can't get as interested in them as I am in fiction. I keep trying, though.
What book have you reread the most? I used to re-read Little Women every Christmas. I've read most of L.M. Montgomery's books at least twice.
What book did you like once, but now can't stand? The Left Behind series. Hey, at least I saw the error of my ways.
What book most made your life what it is today? I'll go with the Bible. :)
What is your favorite book by your favorite author? Other than TBC, Anne of the Island is probably my favorite L.M. Montgomery book. Don't we all want a Patty's Place? It's so hard to pick one book of hers, though. I could go on all day. [livejournal.com profile] violetvale and [livejournal.com profile] kiwiria will understand this passion.
What book must you really read someday? I'm inspired to read Catcher in the Rye now that Jessica's talking about it. Also, I really need to finish The Silmarillion. Really. It's shameful.
What's on top of the nearest to-read pile? The Ragamuffin Gospel by Brennan Manning - I keep starting and stopping. When I finish that, I'm going to go to the library and get the other Shopaholic books, and all the Sarah Dessen they have. (I recommend Someone Like You. It's really wonderful.)
What book made you want to jump off a bridge? The True Woman. It was rough. No book has ever made me feel like such a loser. :P
What book made you want to write? I can't think of any in particular. I just always wanted to write.
What book changed you? Chosen by God by R.C. Sproul, and Stepping Heavenward by Elizabeth Prentiss.
What was the first book you bought? Probably a Baby-Sitters Club book. I was obsessed.
What was the most recent book you bought? I bought a whole stack with my giftcard a couple of months ago. I normally don't buy books unless they're used. Too expensive.
What books are you currently reading? Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (British edition), The Ragamuffin Gospel, and Ezekiel.
What was your most recent read? Last night I finished New Spring by Robert Jordan. It's a prequel to the Wheel of Time books.

Oh, just chance it! :P I rarely get sick from others. My nieces are sick all the time, and I don't think I've caught anything from them yet.

Well, I wouldn't have seen him tonight anyway, since he's going to Truck Night (despite his illness). I'm sure I will see him tomorrow. :)

Actually, yes, I found her a while ago. I bookmarked her journal, but haven't added her because I hate being fangirlish. She is hilarious. You really ought to read something of hers. I've read Someone Like You and That Summer (the books they combined to make How To Deal) and they're wonderful.

If he feels anything like I do, it may be a few days. Ugh. I hope for your sake you don't get it.

The Babysitters Club? Me too, girl. I wanted to *be* Kristy. We actually tried to make our own (and failed miserably). LOL!

Can i request a post about a certain topic?

Well, if you would, i'd like your opinion on Robert Jordan books in general. I've been meaning to read one or two, as they seem to be fairly widely-read, and i'm extremely curious as to what an intelligent non-absolute-geek person thinks about them.

We did too! We never even got one phone call. LOL. I bet every single fan of those books tried to form their own BSC at some point. Did you know there's a community on LJ? I think it's just [livejournal.com profile] babysittersclub. I went there once and came across a hilarious, but disturbing, fanfic in which they were all 25 and still coming to regular club meetings.

I can see you being like Kristy. :) I always liked Stacey and Claudia best, but really I was probably most like Mallory. Or Mary Anne.
