Happy 19th birthday to my sister Debra, the best hermana a girl could ask for! The guys and I are taking her to Chili's tonight to celebrate. She's almost done with teenagerhood...it's scary. Wasn't I just nineteen?

Attention fellow Potterheads, and people who enjoy good web design: J.K. Rowling has relaunched her website. She wrote all the content herself, and there's some very interesting stuff! Check it out if you haven't already.

Lately I feel like the only person in the world who's not on a strict diet or exercise regimen. Kathy has begun a Pre-Wedding Exercise Plan that puts me to shame. I'll benefit from it, though, since I'll exercise with her when I have time. Last night we reinstated the infamous LuAnn workout tape that we used to do religiously in college (we even have video of us and Emily exercising to it). It was rough. Even Pilates has been difficult and painful for me the last couple of weeks. I haven't done anything differently, so I don't know what's wrong. Anyway, the topic of weight keeps coming up with all my friends, and I've been thinking it's such a relative thing. Everyone is healthy at different weights. I shouldn't let myself feel like a cow for not conforming to other people's standards. So my new diet-type motto is: Know thyself. The end. :)

Evan came over last night even though it was Monday, which is traditionally our day apart. I felt like I should tell him not to come, but I had missed him all day and my resolve was weak. :) He brought a book, I took out my current book, and we read in happy silence. Our shared love of reading is one of the things I like most about our relationship. I never thought I'd get to be with a guy who was as much of a bookworm as I am. I didn't know such guys existed. :) Right now I have too many books on my plate, mostly due to over-zealousness at the library. Alli loaned me the second and third Shopaholic books, which she'll want back soon. I need to get cracking.

Yet again, a lesson in not reading too quickly: I read "Attention fellow Pottheads" & just about died in shock. Then laughter. Thinking for a quarter of a second that that's what Potter fans were called....then looked closely & rolled my eyes at myself. ;P

Good diet motto. Very true. :)

LOL!!! Yeah, that's me. All about the drugs. :P Sheesh.

Thanks for commenting. I was feeling lonely.

I know, that's why I had to laugh....but hey, at least I KNEW what you were talking about, even using "Pottheads" LOL XD

Awwww *luvluvluv*
I guess everyone's actually working today....like I should be on my paper....but I like leaving luv instead ;D hehe

I'm SUPPOSED to be on a strict diet, but I'm not doing all too well as I just had poptarts and am having pizza for dinner! *sigh*

Well, we all have our bad days. Just think about tomorrow. :)

I'm not on a strict diet or exercise plan, so you aren't the only one. And I know you didn't say that in your journal to draw compliments, but really, Brenda, I've just been to Tennesseee and I think you're in great shape. Strict diets and exercise regimens are for fixing problems, and you don't have the problems that those things aim to fix. For that matter, Kathy seemed to be in pretty good shape too. Bravo for you for realizing you don't need to conform to others' diet and exercise standards. (-:

One of these days I'll have time to read more--I always tell myself that after I settle down a little I'll have more time, which is hopefully true. I'm glad you and Evan are able to share reading time together. Have you two ever done any reading out loud to each other?

[identity profile] chestnutcurls.livejournal.com 2004-05-18 02:43 pm (UTC)(link)
:) Thanks. That was nice. I usually feel like I look okay, but if people knew how much I actually weighed, they'd be encouraging me to exercise more. :P But like I said, weight is really relative. I've been to the lower end of my "recommended" weight range and didn't feel very healthy there, so I can feel okay about not being there anymore.

Neither of us are very big on reading out loud, so we haven't done that. But I ordered Reforming Marriage and we're going to read that together, so I imagine that'll entail some reading out loud. :)

I like your new diet motto! I'm not on a strict diet or exercise plan either, but just you wait till my treadmill gets here. I'm gonna be an exercisin' fiend!!!! Mwahahahaha...

:) You should keep track of your mileage or something! That would be fun.

Is the Shopaholic series good?

[identity profile] chestnutcurls.livejournal.com 2004-05-18 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I've only read the first book, but I liked it! It's fun.

Amen to the diet comment!
And send some of your positive non-fiction thoughts my way - I'm having quite a time plowing through a book I recently just had to have. Non-fiction is always hard for me, I get easily distracted.

[identity profile] chestnutcurls.livejournal.com 2004-05-18 02:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I'm back to reading mostly fiction again. But YOU CAN DO IT! :) What are you reading?

[identity profile] chestnutcurls.livejournal.com 2004-05-18 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh. Interesting.

Hey, dorkiness is cool. :)

Fraser and I are both bookworms. We both get such joy (its sad I know) out of getting a new book from Amazon. Last night we where in Glasgow for a meal and went to Borders after so Fraser could buy me a new book, we both got quite excited about it.

Sounds exciting to me! :)

I just finished the Shopaholic series last month. Love those books!

[identity profile] chestnutcurls.livejournal.com 2004-05-19 08:01 am (UTC)(link)
Yep, they're good summer reading.

Lately I feel like the only person in the world who's not on a strict diet or exercise regimen.

I don't think there's been a week of LiveJournal entries where you haven't talked about doing Pilates, and so I'd consider that an exercise regimen, even if it's not so strict as other people's, who may be fired up with the zeal of tackling an exercise program for the first time. The good thing about less-strict programs is they're more sustainable in the long run because you don't feel guilty for not meeting some near-impossible goal all the time. I think you have a good attitude toward exercise as something you'll do all the time. Feel good!

:) That's a good way of looking at it. Thanks!
