The fight is over, and according to the media, Memphis has "done well." Whatever that means. I have to admit that while I was watching the coverage late Saturday night, I was proud of my city. Proud that, for one night, it was the place to be, even if it was only the allure of violence that made it so.

For me, though, fight night was not so great. Kathy and Jamie and a group of their friends decided to go downtown. However, I had promised Matt I would be at his party, so I had to forego the celebrity-hunting. When I got to Matt's, it turned out that Evan had decided to ditch the party in favor of another one. I immediately assumed that this had to do with a Certain Other Person. After a week of being shafted in favor of the Other Person, I was not in a mood to be dismissive of this. I was mad.

This may have contributed to my enjoyment of the boxing. To my own surprise, I actually found the fights kind of interesting. I was glad that Lennox Lewis won, but I wish Tyson hadn't just stood there. Maybe he didn't know how to fight without using cannibalism. His weird pre- and post-fight comments were amusing, though. (Did anyone see the interview where he talked about his pigeons?)

Afterwards, I went home and called Kathy to see what was going on with them. "We're at the front of the red carpet, and J. Lo is supposed to be coming!" she said. They were having a great time. She promised to call me back if anything happened. I spent a couple of hours sitting in front of the TV, still feeling angry about stupid boys. Finally I gave up and went to bed. It was a good thing I didn't wait up, because Kathy didn't get home till 5 am. It turned out that the only celebrity they saw the whole night was David Hasselhoff, whom Kathy found to be very arrogant. But she also met a boy in the line at Jillian's, so she was flying high about that. :) And that was how I spent Memphis's night in the spotlight. Things improved greatly last night, however. Despite the fact that said boy has been jerky of late, he did unexpectedly refer to me as his best friend in front of several of our peers last night, and then cooked me spaghetti at his apartment. So he's escaped my wrath for the time being. :\ :)

I'm not feeling very well today. My throat hurts, my head feels funny, and I am sneezy and tired. I think I am going to go home for my lunch hour, and rest.

Oh, I finally broke down and did this:
