Good and evil.
Apr. 19th, 2007 10:22 amOne of my LJ friends has asked me to post these questions - they're part of personal research for something he's writing. Anyone is welcome to answer. You can answer anonymously if you want to. Please don't flame each other. I'm not going to get involved with the comments. :)
1. In your opinion, does the human race deserve to keep going?
2. If God were desperate to communicate any one message to us today, what would it be?
3. Is there a place for evil in the world? What is good's purpose in opposing it?

3. The only place I see for evil is that it teaches us exactly how good God is. Or will, when evil is removed from the world. The good must oppose the evil or be overwhelmed by it. It's only the thought that good does oppose evil that can give us hope of a better world.

3. God made evil, so clearly there is room for it. I think it makes us fight and work that much harder to seek the good in our lives.
I think that the good people I know are very, very good. And the rest are mediocre at being neutral and evil (dare I say that?).

3. Yes. Does good have a purpose? God has a purpose, one that we cannot fully grasp, but certainly it is in part to show us His nature in contrast to that which is not. (We dumb humans need all the help we can get! :) )

3. Evil, if unchecked and unopposed, will make aforementioned human race end sooner than it should. I don't know if there is a "place" but I honestly believe that there can't be good without the bad. That what inherently makes something good is that it isn't bad and vice versa. It's an odd paradox in my brain, but so is God and tons of other stuff.
Those are my opinions!

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength and Love your neighbor in the way that Christ loved the church... He laid down His life for her...

Evil is around because we are a broken creation. Good contrasts evil to make the person of God more visible to man. I think...

2. "Stop rocking the boat, you little pricks. And stop using my name to justify your own egomaniacal ends. I'm a god of CREATION. I don't order you to destroy anyone. That's your doing."
3. Evil generates choice, and followers have to choose to believe, not follow blindly. Chosen faith is stronger than blind faith.
My answer...

3. If my memory serves me right, the Bible has never said anything about hell. The world where the human race lives is somewhat hell since all kinds of evil exist in it. To oppose evil is a sure way to get you to heaven, I supposed. ^_^
