I am so, so excited that I get to meet [livejournal.com profile] salemgirl this weekend! And [livejournal.com profile] calypsobard! And I don't even have to leave town! :) What a happy surprise. Yaaay!

I had a great session with my Streets tutoree, Yolanda, yesterday. We did an exercise where you make up a sandwich and write a radio commercial about it, using lots of adjectives. It was a lot of fun; she had me laughing hysterically with her descriptions. "This sandwich is so outrageous, it'll make you want to smack your friend!" What a great kid. I'm so blessed to be able to work with her.

American Idol didn't impress me much last night. Clay was great, though, of course. And Blonde Kimberly, while not that outstanding vocally, looked absolutely beautiful. Why can't my curly hair look like that? Oh...because I don't have a personal stylist. :P

For your viewing pleasure:

I've taken these pictures over a week or so. I love to look at the trees.

I like to see trees all in a row.

The tree that Anne called the Snow Queen in Anne of Green Gables must have looked just like this. I pass this tree twice a day, and marvel at its beauty. :)

Another tree in that same yard.

Kathy thought it would be fun to put some leftover Mardi Gras beads on Gandalf.

He looks sphinxy in a Bourbon Street kind of way. :)

What are my minions doing over there?

Ugh... You gave Gandalf beads, and now he's topless... ;)

Does anyone else besides me think that Saddam Hussein looks a lot like the late Walter Matthau in his better years (like here)?

That tree really does look like a Snow Queen! Gandalf looks adorable w/his Mardi Gras beads. Vilandra (my kittie) would've tore them apart (don't ask me how but she always manages to destroy everything) and ate the beads. ;)

Thanks! :) Yeah, I was kind of surprised he didn't destroy them. He's already chewed the life out of several of his little fuzzy mouse toys. :)

Sounds like Vilandra! And everything that resembles a stuffed animal is hers and she proceeds to rip their necks out. Maybe black kitties are violent. ;)

We had several black cats, all named bagheera. They were very destructive and sneakily violent.

Beautiful trees! I'll be sad to see all of the blossoms go--I've been enjoying those types of trees here, too. I do like how the petals get scattered on the ground, though, it makes it seem kind of storybookish to walk around.

I agree about American Idol last night..it just felt rushed and it was pretty darn bad.. my favs were Clay, Ruben, and Kim (not Kimberly). :)

Yeah, I'm right off of Poplar too. I'm not exactly sure where Avalon is, but I know it's in Real Midtown, as opposed to Fake Midtown where I live (meaning I call it Midtown, but it's actually The University of Memphis Area, which does not sound as cool). :)

I'm excited too! Yaay!
