I just got my car back from the body shop. I was so happy to see it, I would have hugged it if it were possible. After I saw the bill, all I can say is, I'm glad I'm not paying for that. :)

I want to do something with my hair. I'm thinking about getting highlights. Sort of reddish ones. But if I did, I'd have to continue highlighting it forever just so it wouldn't look stupid growing out. This irritates me. Why do fun hair things have to be expensive and drawn-out? Anyway, I got the idea because MaryElaine and I had dessert at TGI Friday's last night, and they had a haircolor ad by the door with all these bottles of color-in shampoo. Apparently they wash your hair with the stuff and it leaves a tint on your hair. It sounded so fun that we almost went to have it done immediately. Then we noticed that it was 50 dollars. :P Girls, what are your haircolor situations? Do you dye or highlight or what? I'd like to hear about everyone's routine.

Oh, and I had the Vanilla Bean Cheesecake, and it was incredible. Apparently I was making faces of great, um, enjoyment, because the guys sitting in front of us turned around and asked me if it was good. :)

I want to make one of these. Unfortunately, as we all know, anything involving sewing is basically impossible for me. The shoemaker's children go barefoot, and the seamstress' daughter can't thread a needle. :P

Don't worry about always having to dye your hair after you do it once. Trust me, that's not the case. Especially with highlighting--you can often do it sparingly where they still look nice while growing out. I gave my sister some light streaks once, and she was getting compliments months later (and her hair grows really fast). As for dying, you can always dye your hair back to its original color when you're done with the other one so that when it grows no one will notice. On top of all of that, dye doesn't really remain the same, even if its permanent. It fades and blends, so it's not as drastic as you might think. Your hair, being so dark, might not even show the color very well.

I totally agree w/Jessica about dying. :) I got highlights, then I dyed my hair red which looked really good only because the light highlights were a light color of red so it still looked like I had highlights. Then I tried to get rid of the red though and the kind of dye that was used, didn't want to come out of my hair at all. Thus I still have red in my hair if you really look for it. lol.

i highlight! It's not so bad depending on the color you get...mine grows out really nicely, so it doesn't really look bad. I go maybe about every 4 months..sometimes longer..

A - Act your age? No, not really.
B - Born on what day of the week? Sunday.
C - Chore you hate? Vacuuming. It's boring, it takes a long time because I have to move things out of the way, and once the floor's been walked on for a few minutes it immediately loses the "just vacuumed" look, so it isn't even very rewarding.
D - Dad's name? Ben
E - Essential makeup item? Uh ... (-:
F - Favorite actor? Russell Crowe
G - Gold or silver? Silver.
H - Hometown? All over. I've spent more time near Denver, Colorado than anywhere else, but even that was less than half my life.
I - Instruments you play? Piano and guitar. Brenda, I didn't know you played guitar! You must play when you come down to CA. (-:
J - Job title? Teacher's Assistant.
K - Kids? Up to God.
L - Living arrangements? Two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment with one roommate: a fellow Christian CptS grad student named Jeremy.

N - Number of people you've slept with? Zero.
O - Overnight hospital stays? Just one, when I had heart surgery a few years ago.
P - Phobia? Forgetting assignments or other commitments
R - Religious affiliation? Christian
S - Siblings? Rusty (20), Megan (18), Katherine (16), Patrick (14), Eli (11), Gregory (7)
T - Time you wake up? 8am.
U - Unique habit? My pinky on my left hand will pop if I open my left hand just right. I'm sure it's annoying, but it feels like it needs to be done sometimes, and my pinky feels better afterwards.
V - Vegetable you refuse to eat? I can't think of any. I like vegetables.
W - Worst habit? I don't think my coffee habit is good for me.
X - X-rays you've had? Aside from dental: one on my collarbone when I broke it falling down the stairs.

I "play" guitar in the sense that some people "play" the kazoo. :) I know chords and I can strum, but I am horrible. Truly horrible. If you want proof, though, I'll try to play something when we come there. :)

Hi Brenda!

When I want to do my hair (which is quite often, just ask [livejournal.com profile] alissamarie...hee hee), I usually go out and buy a color and try it...now my hair is black, so most things don't come out real strong...but when the sun hits my hair just right, you can see it. I usually use a red color, much to my mother's chagrin...she likes brown in my hair more. I've thought about getting my hair highlighted in a salon (I've gotten it done once- a couple years ago, back in high school!), but I am really hesistant about paying all the money to have it grow out eventually. That's all I have to say. =)

i have wanted red highlights for AGES. almost got them done but my dad convinced me not to...... I did red henna once.... it worked but it was SUCH a pain to do and it only lasts 6 weeks or so. maybe if a friend helped you, since it's only like $4 for the stuff.

If you highlight or do streaks, it looks really natural when it grows out... I think you'd look cool with those dark red streaks... :)

I'm highlighted blonde all the way now, and yes... I'm worried about the upkeep... my hair grows fast, and it will be very noticeable when the roots start showing again... but, I'm just going to have fun with it for now!

I helped Kip and Polly die their hair with dyes from Whatever back in the BSU days. Kip's hair was smurf blue, but you could only see a hint of purple in Polly's hair...
