Taking care of business.
Feb. 4th, 2004 02:35 pmLast night I had a low-blood-sugar crash such as I have not had in years. On my way out the door to Kroger, I noticed that my arms and legs were a little shaky. I figured I was tired from wearing heels all day. About fifteen minutes later, I felt so weak that I could hardly push the shopping cart. It wasn't until I saw a frozen lasagna, and instantly craved meat, that I figured out what was wrong. I bought a package of beef, which I have never done in two years of apartment living. I went through the U-Scan and my hands were shaking so badly that I couldn't scan a head of lettuce. As soon as I got home I wolfed down some pretzels, which helped enough that I was able to cook a beef Stroganoff. Evan came over and ate with me, and we had a restful evening. Today I feel better. I guess a meatier, proteiny diet is in my future. I don't know how hypoglycemics are supposed to lose weight. :P But I'd rather weigh a little more than have these sugar attacks. They're scary, especially when they come out of nowhere like that.

stacye13's tidy yet personable cubicle, I've been making my own cube less cluttery. Today I made a shelf for my Homestar Runner figurines out of tacks, paper clips, and part of an Office Depot box. Look out, MacGyver.
I have decided to make a deliberate effort to watch less TV. After a thousand replays of Justin and Janet, and total immorality on 90% of existing shows, I have finally had it. Evan and I have started reading together, which I think is a great substitute for trying to find something among all the filth on the air. He doesn't even want to watch the news anymore because it just makes us upset. So, excepting the few shows we do enjoy, I'm going to live more like Thoreau. :)
How many Hotmail users are on the friends list? Have you guys had a lot of problems with the free e-mail? I have weird problems that their staff refuses to address. I can't receive mail from Yahoo addresses. I can't send mail to AOL addresses. Evan has sent me several nice e-mails that I never received, and he's a Hotmail user too. It's getting very annoying. I'd just switch to my Yahoo address full-time, but I don't like the way their page looks. Yes, I am superficial when it comes to e-mail. Anyone have thoughts?

Date: 2004-02-04 12:44 pm (UTC)I use Fastmail, and so far I've been happy with it. I think it's at www.fastmail.fm or something. You can change the colors/layout to make it pretty for you, too. :)
Re:
Date: 2004-02-04 02:26 pm (UTC)I'm definitely thinking about Fastmail. I want to consolidate my e-mail addresses. I'd need to print out all of my saved e-mails, though, because if I don't close my old accounts I'll keep going back and checking them. Which defeats the purpose. :P

Date: 2004-02-04 12:54 pm (UTC)Be careful about those sugar attacks- sounds way scary!
I have hotmail too, but I haven't noticed any major problems. My primary email is Juno, and I use hotmail for LJ comments... now that you mention it, I wonder if I've missed getting any emails! Thanks- this will bug me now. ;-P

I have a hotmail address, but I only use it for a listserv I'm on. I despise hotmail.

Date: 2004-02-04 03:41 pm (UTC)If I had to choose, I'd stick with Hotmail because they check messages for viruses, plus, I kinda like the new look of Hotmail, especially the new way you can report Junk mail or non-junk mail, etc.
Hope that helps.

Date: 2004-02-04 09:41 pm (UTC)Actually, I have given Hotmail about 2-3 chances, but something goes wrong every time. Their service just isn't reliable. :P
