Last night I had a low-blood-sugar crash such as I have not had in years. On my way out the door to Kroger, I noticed that my arms and legs were a little shaky. I figured I was tired from wearing heels all day. About fifteen minutes later, I felt so weak that I could hardly push the shopping cart. It wasn't until I saw a frozen lasagna, and instantly craved meat, that I figured out what was wrong. I bought a package of beef, which I have never done in two years of apartment living. I went through the U-Scan and my hands were shaking so badly that I couldn't scan a head of lettuce. As soon as I got home I wolfed down some pretzels, which helped enough that I was able to cook a beef Stroganoff. Evan came over and ate with me, and we had a restful evening. Today I feel better. I guess a meatier, proteiny diet is in my future. I don't know how hypoglycemics are supposed to lose weight. :P But I'd rather weigh a little more than have these sugar attacks. They're scary, especially when they come out of nowhere like that.

Inspired by [livejournal.com profile] stacye13's tidy yet personable cubicle, I've been making my own cube less cluttery. Today I made a shelf for my Homestar Runner figurines out of tacks, paper clips, and part of an Office Depot box. Look out, MacGyver.

I have decided to make a deliberate effort to watch less TV. After a thousand replays of Justin and Janet, and total immorality on 90% of existing shows, I have finally had it. Evan and I have started reading together, which I think is a great substitute for trying to find something among all the filth on the air. He doesn't even want to watch the news anymore because it just makes us upset. So, excepting the few shows we do enjoy, I'm going to live more like Thoreau. :)

How many Hotmail users are on the friends list? Have you guys had a lot of problems with the free e-mail? I have weird problems that their staff refuses to address. I can't receive mail from Yahoo addresses. I can't send mail to AOL addresses. Evan has sent me several nice e-mails that I never received, and he's a Hotmail user too. It's getting very annoying. I'd just switch to my Yahoo address full-time, but I don't like the way their page looks. Yes, I am superficial when it comes to e-mail. Anyone have thoughts?

I totally used to do that! I had shelves for my speakers (for my CD player). Great minds think alike! ;)

Sorry about the sugar problems, but I really think that including more proteins may actually help you lose weight (not that I believe you need to lose any), not gain. Things like chicken breast are low calorie and fat, and they fill you up longer than carbs.

I use Fastmail, and so far I've been happy with it. I think it's at www.fastmail.fm or something. You can change the colors/layout to make it pretty for you, too. :)

Yeah. I think it's equal parts worrying about fat, and not liking to cook meat. I hate the thawing and the E. coli worries and stuff. Also, meat is expensive.

I'm definitely thinking about Fastmail. I want to consolidate my e-mail addresses. I'd need to print out all of my saved e-mails, though, because if I don't close my old accounts I'll keep going back and checking them. Which defeats the purpose. :P

I have yet to see what it was that happened with Justin and Janet. I usually watch more TV than almost anyone I know so I don't know how I've managed to miss it. On Monday when I had my ultra-sound, the nurse said that Emily was a modest little girl and I told her, "Good!" and she said something like, "Oh- you don't want her to be like Janet Jackson?" Then she laughed. I said no, of course, but I didn't know why she said Janet Jackson in particular because I hadn't even heard about what had happened. So I felt very stupid when I saw someone on LJ mention it and I looked it up. I'm so behind on everything...
Be careful about those sugar attacks- sounds way scary!
I have hotmail too, but I haven't noticed any major problems. My primary email is Juno, and I use hotmail for LJ comments... now that you mention it, I wonder if I've missed getting any emails! Thanks- this will bug me now. ;-P

Eep! You do need more protein, girl. But remember there's lots of good protein that doesn't come from meat! ;)

I want to see pictures of your cubicle now! I want to see the creativity that is your Homestarrunner shelf!

I have a hotmail address, but I only use it for a listserv I'm on. I despise hotmail.

Maybe I'll take some pictures later in the week!

By the way I got your CD! Thanks! I've been listening to it in the car. :)

You should record how much protein you eat on a daily basis... If there is a severe defiency (by 20g or more), then maybe you should invest in some protein bars.

I'm terrible at recording what I eat and its value...that's why I haven't gone on WW. :P I'm pretty sure I have some deficiency since protein basically = fat and I'm trying to avoid fat. I have found a few lower-fat, high-protein things: veggie burgers, tuna fish, and a certain kind of wheat bagel. I just need to start eating those things. :P

Thanks for relating. I like your new icon! The old one was kind of depressing-looking. :)

We didn't set out for a depressing looking icon - it just sort of turned out that way! I'm a ray of sunshine. Honest! :)
Leto II is awesome. Excellent books, the Dune chronicles - the Lord of the Rings of scifi you know :)

I'm a Hotmail user, and I haven't had any trouble sending or receiving messages from people with Yahoo and AOL e-mail addresses. You might wanna double check to make sure you haven't blocked users with AOL and/or Yahoo e-mail addresses. Maybe you should also contact Hotmail customer service and support.

If I had to choose, I'd stick with Hotmail because they check messages for viruses, plus, I kinda like the new look of Hotmail, especially the new way you can report Junk mail or non-junk mail, etc.

Hope that helps.

I'm a hotmail person, and I think it's eaten a couple of my messages, but other than that not much trouble. Of course, I like it less and less every time they upgrade...but it's nice to have in addition to my personal acc't.

Love the figurine shelf!

Coming from a Hotmail hater...I say switch to Yahoo! You can change colors & stuff, so it doesn't look so bad! lol.

Actually, I have given Hotmail about 2-3 chances, but something goes wrong every time. Their service just isn't reliable. :P
