I'm so bored today. There are non-rush things I could do, both personal and job-related, but I can't work up the energy to do them. Sigh. I wish I was with Stacy, whose department went to a Redbirds game today. Which reminds me, have I mentioned how nice and generous she is? She's always lending me stuff. :)

The big news around here is a young local DJ who was strangled in her own apartment. The more they find out, the more tragic the story gets. As a fellow female city apartment resident, this story has me more than a little freaked out. Apparently the robbers were knocking on doors, waiting for someone to open up so they could rob them...it was totally random. Ladies, don't open the door for someone you don't know. Ever.

On a light note, I have the Jason Mraz CD, and last year I wasn't too impressed with it. I decided to give it another chance a few weeks ago, and I don't know why I didn't like it before, because it's awesome. He's funny and has a nice voice and a versatile style. I guess I wasn't in the musical "place" for his stuff then. Does anyone else get into long-term musical moods? Most of the time I like peppier stuff, but sometimes I get into slow-music moods or pop moods or country moods that last a few weeks. I've always been that way.

I'm curious about who watches certain TV shows, so I made a poll. The first five are shows that I really enjoy; the second five are shows that I don't really watch for various reasons, but I've noticed they're popular with other people.

[Poll #278780]

To be honest, I've never seen American Idol, but I've seen Danish Idol and hated it, so I figured I'd think the same of the American version.

Hoo boy...can you tell from my answers that I don't watch tv much!? Blame my parents--we didn't have a tv when I was little and by the time we did I was addicted to books and had a short attention span for tv. Still the same!

I get into long-term musical moods! It used to drive my sister crazy when I was living at home, because I would listen to the same artist over and over for, say, a week, and then switch to a new genre/artist. I still do the same thing, and even more so when I was writing. With my first book, I listened almost exclusively to 80's bands and Herb Alpert...with my second, I listened to the Newsboys and the Rembrandts. With the 3rd, I was on a Supertones/Newsboys kick.

I LOVE the origina CSI but I can give or take Miami. Two different Dynamics.

Smallville isn't represented :( my new obsession!!

I've been is a Les Miserables kick lately. I'm weening off of it but there was a few recnet weeks where it was all I listened to.

V. sad about Madison. It is scary that it is random because while we have a high murder rate in this city, very rarely is it random. most of the time the perps know the victim.

Not only do I experience music "swings", but I also have food moods where I'll eat the same food every day for a week or two, and clothing moods where I'll only wear a certain type of outfit for a few weeks.

My responses of "hate it" aren't all because I've seen the show in question, but mostly because I've seen enough previews to know that the show shouldn't be watched by anyone. Just wanted to clear that up:)

I can remember being a sleazy hotel room once when Dad was out, and a bunch of big guys came and started banging on our door. Mom knew just what to do though--it all comes from living in Chicago, I guess. We almost had to call the police on them.

Sadly, I'd rather watch the 6 & 7 am reruns of Buffy than any of those shows you listed! I do like the American Idol audition shows, only for the aspect of the "I can't believe that person thinks they can sing".
And we've been Tivo-ing Tru Calling (starring the girl who played Faith from Buffy), but I think its probably going to be cancelled after this season anyway.

I LOVE Gilmore Girls!!! Love it! However, I suspect they are going to have Rory's highschool sweetheart either commit adultry or get a divorce and as much as I liked those two as a couple, it's too late. I'll be pissed if the story gets all unsavory. It's bad enough that mom sleeps over at her boyfriends house. This show used to be cleaner. It's still pretty clean compared to most programming, but it's getting edgy-er.

Yes, I get in musical moods too.

I am woefully out of the loop on TV shows. :-(

I am notorious for getting into music ruts. My college roommate Elizabeth loved to listen to 80's music - I miss having her around to liven up my musical life!

I find stories like that depressing and distressing ... that's why I no longer watch the news (except weather and sports maybe). Just three comments on that story: 1) Use the peephole 2) Use the chain on the door 3) if you're allowed, GET A DOG! (something heftier than a chihuahua). In my opinion, that's probably the greatest deterrent to home invasion crimes. The only thing better would be TWO dogs.

Your list has 2 shows that I watch ... and only 1 regularly - 24. I can see why people are indifferent to that show. You really can't just pick up anywhere with it. You pretty much have to be there from the beginning of the season to be engrossed in it.

You should've included The Simpsons :)

Fraser and I don't have a TV so I couldn't do the poll. I recognise some of the programmes names. Tonight we were at Fraser's dad's for the evening and we watch Holby City which is a hospital drama. If I had a TV that is the sort of stuff I would watch.

I agree - enough with the Rory/Dean thing. She needs to move on. (I never liked him that much anyway.)

This show used to be cleaner.

I know, it used to be more family-friendly. I've been really disappointed with the last few episodes (Paris and the older Prof.? Yuck!), though I think I'll keep watching for the good parts. I want to see what happens to Lane, and of course, Luke.

I always liked Dean. I hated Jess.

Yes, Paris and that professor is disgusting, I'm glad they don't show more of it.

I also want to see how things work out for Lane.

It's a shame they had Luke get married, just to have him get divorced again.

It's not the same show it was a season and a half before. They never should have brought Jess on.

I wonder if they ran out of storyline when Rory went to college.

Couple of clarifications:

Scrubs - hate it -- it bugs me, because some people seem to really like it...and it feels as if I should like it, but I end up being really frustrated and end up turning away quickly.

24 - love it -- that said, I've only watched season 1. Because I don't think you can easily pop in and out of it...I need to catch other seasons on DVD.

I shouldn't watch the news either. Evan keeps trying to get me to stop watching it because it only upsets me. :(

You really do need to be involved in 24 from the beginning, I guess. I've watched a couple of episodes, and though it was interesting, I gave up since I didn't know who anyone was.

There's only one other season of 24, I think. It'll probably come out on DVD soon.

No, I think that's great! I only follow a few shows, but even that's probably too much. That's part of the reason I haven't gotten cable in my own place...I'd waste hours per week watching the Home & Garden channel. :P :)

they started having Jason Priestly on the show last week I think (it's hard keeping track when you don't watch on the actual nite) and I keep wanting to call him Brandon cause of 90210. He looks really old and rough though.
And I might actually watch the last Angel episode if some of the old Buffy gang are going to show up!

I think this is the third season that's on now...but I'm not certain of that. But I haven't seen season 2 on DVD yet, so maybe I'm wrong.
