The good news for the day is, I can see! The bad news is that my prescription is now -6 in both eyes. That scares me. I tested at 20/20 with the new contacts, and the doctor seemed pleasantly surprised. Attention, eyes: you have a lot more to see. Don't get any worse.

Evan and I are going to see Man On Fire tonight. It looks good. Personally, I'm a little freaked by how talented and mature Dakota Fanning is, in the same way I was freaked by Haley Joel Osment in The Sixth Sense. No kid should be able to act that serious. It seems...alien.

I'm so thankful that I have a job so I can afford stuff like contacts and movies and rent. It's good to remember that some people have to go without those things. Sometimes I think about life centuries ago when there was no such thing as glasses. I can't imagine going through life and seeing everything as a big blob, though I don't guess they knew any different. It makes me sad for them.

Kathy will be done with her thesis next week, and then I'll get to see her more. Only eight weeks until Emily's wedding, and twelve weeks until Kathy's. It's so soon. How did we get here? Last night I made a list in my prayer journal of all the upcoming weddings and babies that I need to keep praying for. It was a long list. I need to budget my prayer time better, because there are people I'm neglecting. There's just so much to pray for. I know God will accomplish things regardless of whether I pray or not, but I like to participate. :)

Have a good weekend, everyone!

I don't know whether this would work for you, but I found that, since I have trouble remembering everything all at one go, I say brief prayers whenever things come to mind (in addition to a regular prayer time). I have been pleasantly surprised at how much closer this makes me feel to God, and I don't feel as though I'm neglecting people. I'm not praying for everyone at one time, but the prayers are still said and God is still seeing my passion for caring about others. Just my $.02!

That's good advice! I do that, too, but sometimes I feel like it doesn't really "count" since I'm praying about it in passing. But that's a dumb thing to think. :P

I'm worse than -6 in both eyes, and contacts still do well by me. Don't worry, Brens - your eyes will hold out a while yet if you treat them well :)

I've thought about people long ago with eyesight too. I guess there weren't a lot of literate people for a while, so it's not like they were constantly having to read road signs and stuff. But still, I can hardly see a thing without my contacts, and it would be awful to go through life seeing only color blobs.

LOL! Love the title.

Yes! I've thought about what life would be like without contacts/glasses too. I'm very thankful that I live in a time in which we have devices to help us see.

I'm -6 in one eye and -7.5 in the other and getting worse every year! I usually wear glasses but do have contacts. My eyesight is nearly 20/20 with contacts but I can't wear them just now as my eyes are so dry due to pregnancy. And when I am at work, the hospital environment is so dry its easier to wear my glasses.

I so respect and admire your commitment to prayer. I can learn a lot from you! My prayer life is completely lacking and when I do pray, it is mostly very selfishly.
I just saw Sixth Sense again (part of it anyway) again the other night and it is freakishly disturbing at how well such a young boy can act. I think acting in a movie with that subject matter when I was that age would have scarred me for life! He's amazingly talented- oh- and speaking of Haley Joel, I highly recommend Second Hand Lions!

Aww, thanks. I pray very selfishly too, though. :P

I know! It's just weird.

All I am asking is a simple click of mouse on the link. I swear to you it is not a virus. If you do not like me posting here and/or consider this "spamming," or free "advertising," you are more then welocmed to delete it from you journal, but remember, all I am asking, from one LJ user to the other, is a simple click. thank you. http://www.bandbuilder.com/projektrevolution2004/index.php?ref_code=F50532
