Everybody say hello to [livejournal.com profile] dawn11476!

I have too much stuff I feel like writing about, so I haven't been posting. Does that make sense? :) Also, yesterday I was insanely busy all day and did not have time to post. I spent several hours in the copy room working on a huge project involving 24 contracts, 5 reams of paper, and a partridge in a pear tree. :P

But today it's back to the usual placid office environment. So I am free to impose random thoughts on all of you. :) Topic 1: I watched most of Thirteen Days the other night (one of the many movies borrowed from Kathy's house), and it was impressive. I was scrapbooking while I watched it, so many details have probably escaped my attention. But it got me thinking about war and history in general. The Cuban missile crisis must have been such a scary time. My parents were children in Miami then, and my dad tells stories about air raid drills and having to get under his desk at school. Do you realize that was only about 40 years ago? That's not such a long time. For that matter, the Holocaust was only 60 years ago. I can't imagine what it must have been like to live in such a time. I thought the other day about how my children will never know the world as it was before September 11th. It'll be just a concept to them, the way the WWII world is to me. Very weird to think about.

Topic 2: Lately I've been rediscovering music that I used to like, mainly on tapes I made years ago for my car. (And whoever can tell me where my subject line came from gets a gold star. :)) I go through phases with music, where I listen to the same CDs all the time. Then I gradually move on to something else. This morning, I was inspired by Jessica's CD-organizing and decided to make a list of all my CDs. I realized there are only a few that I really listen to, and I have over 100 CDs, so I was like, "Why don't I listen to this anymore?" Then I started thinking about my tapes! Maybe I need to take some of them out of my closet, so I will listen to them and not feel like I've wasted hundreds of dollars over the years.

Topic 3: I re-read one of the Princess Diaries books last night. Every girl needs to read these books, especially if you're feeling depressed. They still make me laugh out loud even though I've read them several times. And Michael reminds me very much of a certain guy I know.

Oh, and my dad just called, and he's buying me a new cell phone! My parents are being so generous lately. When it rains, it pours. :)
