Jan. 2nd, 2003 10:35 amHappy New Year!
My New Year's Eve was fun and not as stressful as I had anticipated. Evan, Ryan, and I ate turkey and had a good time at my parents' house. While the guys talked with my dad about guns and other Man Stuff, my mother and I tried to put festive hats on Bun. He was not cooperative. :) At about 9, we left for Luke and Myla's. We decided to go together in my car. (They regretted this fairly quickly, since in the spirit of the evening I forced them to listen to "Will2K" by Will Smith.) The driving kind of stressed me out, because it was dark and rainy, but Ryan had written directions on a napkin so we wouldn't get lost. As we pulled into the driveway, he blew his nose and threw the (I thought) tissue out the window. I asked if he felt okay. He replied, "We didn't need those directions anymore anyway." What a nut. :)
At Luke and Myla's we all hung around in the kitchen for a while. Luke had far too much fun with the hors d'ouerves. Then they and their friends, who are all very musical, performed original songs for us. (Jessica, I thought of you. You would have had a blast.) Sadly, midnight was not a big deal. There was no toasting or hugging or anything. Sigh. After midnight we played a very casual round of Friends trivia. I was proud, because we were talking about favorite episodes and Evan actually had one. I have finally converted him! :) We pulled out the Best Of videos, but after just one episode, the guys and I decided to leave. I ended up getting home at 4:15. I thought I was hallucinating, because my psycho across-the-hall neighbor was not only awake, but she was also dumping buckets of water out her window. ??? Anyway, it was a fun night.
