We had a tornado warning in the city at 12:30 this morning. The sirens went off. I slept through the whole thing. I feel so comforted now. :P I think I missed it because it was so loud in the apartment, with the noisy air conditioner and the noisy box fan and the several other noisy fans running at full blast, which succeed only in pushing hot, stagnant air around the apartment. I think I'm going to break down and get another window unit for my bedroom, because this cannot continue. If it's this hot when it's 85 outside, I can't imagine the agony later. Now my electrical bills will probably be around 200 dollars. Yay, because I can really afford that. :P
By the way, there was no confirmed tornado to go with the warning. The last tornado anyone actually saw in the Memphis area was the 1994 tornado that damaged a high school and my church (though it wasn't my church at the time). We've had many tornado warnings since then. We've learned to disregard them. This is going to make things very dangerous when the next big one hits.
Has there been a day in the last few months when LJ didn't choke up at some point? If more people got paid accounts, would things work better? I wonder.
