warnings

We had a tornado warning in the city at 12:30 this morning. The sirens went off. I slept through the whole thing. I feel so comforted now. :P I think I missed it because it was so loud in the apartment, with the noisy air conditioner and the noisy box fan and the several other noisy fans running at full blast, which succeed only in pushing hot, stagnant air around the apartment. I think I'm going to break down and get another window unit for my bedroom, because this cannot continue. If it's this hot when it's 85 outside, I can't imagine the agony later. Now my electrical bills will probably be around 200 dollars. Yay, because I can really afford that. :P

By the way, there was no confirmed tornado to go with the warning. The last tornado anyone actually saw in the Memphis area was the 1994 tornado that damaged a high school and my church (though it wasn't my church at the time). We've had many tornado warnings since then. We've learned to disregard them. This is going to make things very dangerous when the next big one hits.

Has there been a day in the last few months when LJ didn't choke up at some point? If more people got paid accounts, would things work better? I wonder.

You get tornado warnings there? We don't get any kind of warnings here :(. What are you supposed to do when you hear it?

Livejournal's been annoying all week for me. Always giving me errormessages and page not found messages. I don't think it'd make much difference if more people got paidaccounts though. I think it's because there's so many account being created.

You're supposed to go to a safe area, like a basement or closet.

Be glad you have no warnings there. :)

Yeah, I guess you're right- there are just too many people on LJ. It is really annoying, though. I wish just one website I visit regularly would work like it's supposed to. :P

Well, we're not really in tornado country, so we've never had any warnings, but the thoughts of one scare me...I deamed about one last night, since it's been on the news so much. Quite unpleasant. Glad nothing came of yours!
