don't fool with my boo
Nov. 3rd, 2003 03:51 pmHello, and welcome to Memphis 2003: The Eternal Summer. It is November 3. I am wearing a tank top. Last night I was forced to turn on the air conditioning. I might as well be back in Miami. :) My weekend:
Friday: Halloween parties, one at Kathy's parents' and one at Royce's. Our appearance at both was brief, since Evan was very sleep-deprived and I was pretty tired myself.
Saturday: I drove to Murfreesboro with my mom, and we met my sister at MTSU for Contest of Champions. There's always a common theme in the marching shows, usually depending on popular movies or what DCI did last year. This year, difficult concert music was brought onto the field in a big way. The two main themes seemed to be art and religion. There was a Chagall show, a Moses show, an Abraham show, a show called "Chiaroscuro" (which was awesome, but I heard Strong Sad in my head the entire time), and, my favorite, Brentwood High School's "Dream." Brentwood is consistently creative and excellent. In 2001 they did a Gettysburg show that ranks in my top three shows I've ever seen. They didn't disappoint me this year. This show was so neat I can't even describe it. Of course, they lost the championship to McGavock, because McGavock has won all but a few COCs since 1964 in their grand tradition of Paying Off the Judges. They definitely didn't deserve to win this year. I have a lot more band stuff to say, but I'll refrain since no one knows what I'm talking about. :) Anyway, that was Saturday.
Sunday: We went to Opry Mills for lunch and shopping. My mom was generous to me since I have no money. I got a red hoodie, a really cute skirt from Old Navy, and a pair of black high-heeled Rampage shoes that I am in love with. I even love the box. It's neon pink. I feel very Elle Woods. After that we came home. I barely made it to Bible study, then had dinner with some people, and then went to Evan's new apartment (which he had moved into while I was gone). It's nicer than I thought it would be for the price. But best of all, it took me three minutes to get home from there. When light returns in the spring, I can even ride my bike there. I love this new arrangement. :D
