May Book List
Jun. 2nd, 2008 09:55 amMay was a very busy month and I didn't have time to read much.
It Ain't All About the Cookin' by Paula Deen and Sherry Suib Cohen
I've never watched a Paula Deen show, but I really enjoyed her memoir. In this book she shares about her family, her agoraphobia, and how she became a cook. Very interesting, and encouraging.
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon
A sort of mystery story, told by an autistic 15-year-old boy. It's uniquely written and not what I expected. I recommend it.
Prince Caspian by C.S. Lewis*
I re-read this just before seeing the movie. Otherwise I wouldn't have realized how many unnecessary changes were made in the movie. :P
The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency and Tears of the Giraffe by Alexander McCall Smith
After unintentionally starting this detective series in the middle, I'm now reading it through from the beginning. So these are the first two books. The series is sort of an African, female version of the Mitford series. There's a similar focus on simple joys and helpfulness and relationships. They're comforting reading. :)
