Boy Proof by Cecil Castelucci
A YA book that I found at the dollar store! I didn't expect much, but I was pleasantly surprised. It's about a teen girl with no self-esteem who hides behind the persona of her favorite sci-fi character. As the book progresses, she gains the courage to be who she really is. I liked it.

Shoe Addicts Anonymous by Beth Harbison
Chick lit about a group of women from various backgrounds, who are brought together by their obsession with designer shoes and their inability to buy them. :) It was cute and the characters were well-drawn.

A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving
I've been intending to read this for a long time, and I finally got my hands on a copy. It's amazing, disturbing literature and I'm still unpacking it. I had a hard time getting into it at first, but after the Christmas pageant I was hooked. I won't try to summarize it. Just read it. I haven't read any of John Irving's other books, but I don't think I want to because they couldn't be better than this one.

The Relief of Imperfection: For Women Who Try Too Hard to Make It All Just Right by Joan Webb
This book may as well have been dedicated to me. :P I recommend it to any woman who shares my issues. It's helpful enough that I'll probably re-read it soon. There were some things that annoyed me - the author veers into very touchy-feely territory, uses The Message almost exclusively for her Bible quotations, and makes plenty of references to her life-coaching book and business. But overall, it was good.

Books for March: 4
2009 year to date: 17

Not a good showing for such a long month...but have I mentioned how many magazines I keep up with? I get Newsweek and Entertainment Weekly every week (EW is possibly the greatest magazine ever), then InStyle, Real Simple, Better Homes & Gardens, and Martha Stewart Living monthly. That's a lot of reading. Anyway, I guess I'll be shooting for 50 books this year instead of 100. Life happens.
