chestnutcurls: (flowery me)

It has remained sunny today, which is a nice change. We've been under a "Whatever" forecast for about two weeks. This is the weather report that contains a sun, a cloud, and lightning bolts. Every morning we have brief sunshine, and every afternoon it rains. Then stops raining for a couple of hours. Then rains again. It's impossible to plan anything outdoors, or even to take a walk, because in fifteen minutes Wet Death 2004 could arrive. Evan hasn't been able to work on his truck because the barn where he works on it is completely waterlogged. So frustrating.

At last all my work for the day is done. It's been a busy couple of days. We just had our June birthdays party- it was my month to pick up the cake and ice cream. Tonight Evan's taking me to dinner at Wang's on Beale, our favorite deceptively fancy restaurant (it looks fancy but is actually very affordable). If the weather stays clear, maybe we can take a walk by the river afterwards. :) Many other exciting things are in store for the weekend, like new furniture. Yay!

This week with Kathy has been great. I feel like we'll part as roommates on very good terms. I'm no longer scared that she'll never speak to me again once she moves. The closer it gets to moving time, the more stuff she gives me. Now she's leaving me the rug in her room, which will look very nice with the futon. :) What will my "new" apartment look like? The suspense!

I look skinny today. Maybe all the salsa-ing is working! I've also been working on my own version of my sister's Limited Desserts Plan. When she went off to college, she decided she was only allowed two desserts a week. Frankly, the idea of only two a week makes me want to cry, so I'm trying every other day instead. The problem is that I can't decide what constitutes a dessert- fruit? a Pop-Tart?- so it hasn't been going too smoothly. I can pretend it's making a difference, though.

Have a good weekend, everybody!

Wet Death 2004... that oddly enough sounds like something I wouldn't be surprised to see on channel 5. :P

I got a birthday card from R.C. Johnson today... It's the same card that everyone gets (and that I have gotten the past 3 years that I've worked here.) He always handwrites the same thing, but this time he mixed it up. "Lawson- Have a great day on your special time. Happy Birthday, R.C." Ha!

Fruit is not dessert! At least not a dessert to limit. I vote for defining it as something w/sugar, chocolate, ice cream, and the like.
You'd look really good in this skirt I tried on today at Goldsmiths. It was red, eyelet and kinda circle-y. On sale (imagine that) at Goldsmiths. I ended up just getting sheets instead. Not quite as exciting, but I still got to use my coupon!

Oh I love deceptively fancy restaurants! There's a Thai place in my town (I've only been once) that is new and nice, but it was pretty cheap (at least lunch was).

Nah... don't worry about getting me anything this year. I'm perfectly happy with everything. I asked my parents to get me a Strong's Bible and Greek/Hebrew Dictionary, as that's all I really want this year. :)

I'd take fruit as a dessert any time! ;) Most of my family loves putting whipped cream on strawberries... oh, and fruit salad is yummy :)

Pop Tarts... now those are very unhealthy breakfast foods... gross ;)

Can we have the sunny weather? It's been sunny the past few days but all of a sudden it's cloudy and looks like it wants to rain - just when I'm about to go out for once. ;) LOL!

I have to remember that "deceptively fancy restaurant" phrase. There's a restaurant in Renfrew that I like to go to...looks all fancy but with reasonable prices...

Of course when I treated my mother there Wednesday, we had the absolute worst service ever. It's upscale enough that I'd usually leave a tip, but didn't because: 1) I didn't get the french fries I'd ordered; 2) the waitress seated us at a table and left all the glasses on the table from the previous customer (they were still there when we finished and left); 3) when my mother asked for her leftovers to be packed to take with us, they put the quesadilla slice but didn't pack any of the salad; 4) the waitress was so focussed on being efficient that she was pretty much rude.

I've got a fair tolerance for service (especially after working about 3 years in fast food), but when you combine all the above...*rolls eyes*

But I'll still go back to the Flamingo when I'm in the mood for a non-fast-food meal when I'm in town.

I don't know - it just doesn't scream dessert to me unless there is chocolate involved. Maybe fruit shaped chocolate ?
:)

Poptarts are only a dessert if they have chocolate/frosting. If it's fruit, it's a meal (in my case, haha).

& your weather sounds like ours...only without the rain, which can be more annoying I understand, but this overcast/cold weather is horrid for CA :P

Dessert is any sweets after dinner, isn't it? Pop-tart, Jello, strawberry daqurie, cake, ice cream.

Try substituting for fresh fruit with fat free whipped cream a few nights a week. :)

Fortunately, it's the only time it's happened. And if I read the body language correctly as we came in, they must have just finished a major-league rush situation, because the waitress looked harried from the start.
