We don't need no stinkin' badges.

Helen, because she'd also find our new receptionist situation at work annoying. Our nice receptionists were removed from the entrances about a month ago and moved to building C, where they just field calls. Instead of Lois, who was always sweet and pleasant to talk to, there's a professional security guard in a suit sitting at the front desk every day. He's nice enough, but twice a day he demands to see my name badge. (I should point out that our badges also serve as keys, meaning you can't open the door without one.) It's gotten kind of ridiculous, to the point that he calls people by name and asks to see their badges. The only way to placate him is to keep my badge clipped to the outside of my purse at all times, which is 1) unsafe when I'm out in public and 2) increasing the chances of losing my badge, in which case I will probably never get into the office again. :P
Now that I've vented about that, I'm ready to share the official Wedding Lineup! I already told you yesterday that we've secured our church for the wedding, which makes me so happy. Last night we went to a Bible study to ask -
Danielle, you're going to love this - Les Newsom to be our minister! Les was the RUF campus minister at Memphis when Evan and I first knew each other, and he knows us pretty well. He's now the campus minister at Ole Miss RUF (and does lots of weddings on the side). I was nervous about asking him, but he said yes! It's very exciting. :D Our friend Chris has agreed to play piano for us, and Luke and Myla are going to sing something. We haven't decided what yet (though Luke suggested a song he's written called "Hot Girl In My Bed Tonight" :P).
Our bridal party is also set now! Debra's my maid of honor, of course, and my bridesmaids are Kathy, Em, and...Alli! I wanted another bridesmaid from my RUF circle (since this is definitely an RUF wedding) and had a hard time deciding, but Evan said we couldn't not have Alli in the wedding. She's always been so sweet and supportive of me. On Evan's side, Ryan is best man, of course. The other groomsmen are my brother Kevin, our friend Matt, and Evan's college roommate Willie. I think we have a great balance of friends in the wedding. Yay! And four is just the right amount on each side. I wanted so much to have Myla for a bridesmaid, but we wanted Alli in there too, and Myla has to travel a lot for work. I didn't want to make things harder on her. Casey was also a big consideration, but she's been a bridesmaid so many times that I know she doesn't want to do it anymore. Decisions, decisions.
Gosh, I could go on for quite a while about other wedding things, but how much can you guys take? Plus, I probably ought to find work to do. I already feel bad about my wedding fixation during work hours.

Date: 2004-06-29 02:34 pm (UTC)This makes me wish I had taken notice and attended RUF at my college - it was a very small group, and I didn't know how great it probably was.
