What’s the story behind your LJ username? When I was in 10th grade, my chemistry teacher told me that I looked like the Mona Lisa. Years later, when I started to come to RUF, other people said the same thing, so I made that my username. That way, if someone forgot my real name, they would at least know it was “that Mona Lisa girl.”
Have you ever had a makeover? Yes- I was 13 and my popular friend next door thought I needed some work. She and her friend fried my hair trying to make it straight, and put about 10 pounds of foundation and eyeliner on me. I hated it.
What’s the longest time you’ve spent out of the country? 3 weeks, when I went to Europe in 1995.
What’s one thing you’re grateful for today? My salvation.
What’s your favorite high school memory? Many band memories...One of my favorites is the time lightning struck the field while we were practicing. It wasn’t raining yet, but a storm was approaching, and suddenly lightning struck on one side of the field. For a split second, everyone was still. Then we all started screaming and running for the church next door. Needless to say, that was the end of practice that day. My band director is now my sister’s band director at a different school, and she still tells this story.
Describe your dream wedding. I have a lot of silly little things that I know I want, but I want to save them for the guy I marry, if I get married. When I think about my wedding, I think about coming down the aisle toward the smiling face of a guy I love more than anyone else in the world. Right now that is just a dream for me. So I guess you could say I’m going to have either a “dream wedding,” or nothing, someday.
What was your first memory? We went to New York when I was two, and I remember running in the woods behind my great-aunt’s house and having a bee fly into my ear. It was scary.
How old were you when you had your first heartbreak? 14. My first boyfriend moved to Maine, and I was devastated.
Do you have any weird food preferences? I hate beans. Every kind of beans. I can stand them in a dip or something, but not alone.
What TV character would you most like to be? CJ from West Wing. She’s awesome! Although now she’s had a death threat, so maybe I should rethink that.
What’s your worst flaw? My jealous nature.
What do you plan to do this summer? Go to RUF summer conference (in 8 days)! Go to Redbirds games with Casey. Go to movies. Sit around playing nintendo and doing nothing with Kathy and Evan. Eat a lot of ice cream. Take a weekend trip with Kathy to the beach, and possibly another trip to Chicago.
What is your favorite Disney song? “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid.
What do you usually wear to sleep? Tank tops and boxer-y shorts.
Tell us about any of your birthdays. On my seventeenth birthday, I got food poisoning from the salad bar at a Ryan’s. It was the sickest I have ever been in my life. I ended up losing 15 pounds, though, so I don’t consider it a total loss. :)
Name your three favorite cartoon characters. Snoopy, Cathy, and Bubbles.
What magazines do you read on a regular basis? I don’t have any subscriptions, but I read Christianity Today and InStyle when I get the chance.
What is your favorite pair of shoes? Right now I love my new cherry flip-flops from Target.
Would you rather be a hobbit, an elf, or a dwarf? Definitely an elf. Then I could marry Legolas. :)
