chestnutcurls: (domestic)

I had an entry written earlier, but I just hit "Delete draft" by mistake. The only important thing in it was me wishing jmcphersJonathan a happy birthday. I pray this will be a good year for you. :)

The weather here is horrible for late October. It's still in the 80s, and so humid there's no point in trying to make my hair look good. The air conditioner is still on at home. Sometimes I wish I lived a little further north where there are actual seasons. Okay, we have seasons, but they don't come at the appropriate times. Summer hangs on for at least six months of the year. Evan explained to me that in Chicago (where he comes from) it's that way with winter. If I had to decide, I'd probably stick with the longer summer. Cold makes me weary after a while.

Last night I pulled out an old exercise video, the Cosmopolitan Fat Burning Workout. It has five aerobic sections alternating with five handweight sections, and it's pretty brutal. To my own surprise, I got through it okay (something I couldn't always do at the height of my exercising discipline). It says you'll see results if you do it three times a week, so I may stick with this one and try to do it that often. It might be more effective than intending to aerobicize every day and managing it maybe twice a week. I've given up on being an Exercise Nazi - I just do what I can now. There are too many other things in life.

One of my co-workers, the really domestic one, brought an amazing pumpkin dish today. Not a pumpkin pie, but sort of casserole-ish. I refuse to see it as canceling out my exercise, because pumpkin is extremely good for you. Really! I want to go pick out a pumpkin with Evan and do the whole pumpkin thing - roast the seeds, make a pie, carve the shell. We may not have time before Halloween, though. Is it still okay to do pumpkin things after Halloween? :)

I finally heard a Joss Stone song this morning. The press is right. She rocks! Oh, and I'm warming up to Keane, too. Their CD is really cheap at Target right now, and I almost bought it. I have to save up for U2, though.

Don't you have to use a "pie pumpkin" for pie? They're on the small side - not so good for carving. You might need to get 2 different pumpkins.

I have such a tight budget right now, and I REALLY want to carve a pumpkin! It's eating me up inside. Isn't that silly? We can't even afford to hand out candy but I'm obsessed with carving a pumpkin. *sigh* tell me to get over it.

Thank you for the birthday wishes. (-:

Sorry about the lousy weather. It's been really nice here--for late October, anyway. It's been about 45 at night and maybe in the 50's during the day. Lots of pretty clouds.

I think pumpkins are very Thanksgiving-y. :)

Yes, the trees turning different colors are pretty. But I hate having to wear three shirts and a coat to stay warm! I have finally come to the conclusion that I like summer way better than winter. (I'd been undecided for about 21 years.)

Oh, I didn't know that. I guess I could always make one from canned pumpkin. :)

Aww! How much is a pumpkin? I could paypal the money to you. No one should have to go without a pumpkin.

You're welcome!

Yeah, that's how I wish it was here! The high is 84 today, and no end in sight. I'm so disgusted.

YES! Normal temperatures for this time of year are in the 60s (F) or so. We're way above normal.

LOL... I can get one for $2.78 at Wal*Mart. It's the candy to pass out that gets expensive. We have TONS of kids around here. I'd need $30.00 worth of candy to last one hour.

I SO wish I could hand out that Jesus movie with candy, but I couldn't find anyplace that gives them away free in bulk.

::hops up and down:: I'm dying to do the whole pumpking thing, too! I've been telling Josh about it for days. We won't have time before Halloween either, so we're doing it either early November or later (depending on whether or not we stay here for Thanksgiving, we still haven't decided).

You can do pumpkin things up until December 1st, that's what I say. 'Cause pumpkins are for Halloween and Thanksgiving:)

Ugh, come visit us. For the first time in YEARS (Minus El Nino, I think) CA is having a fall/winter in October. & we only have 2 seasons here! lol.

If I carved a pumpkin...I would want to carve it from the StrongBad stencils they had on the site. Alas, mom has bought one, but it's like, as big as this typing, lol.
