This year is the first time I've really felt old. I remember 1995 very clearly, and with every ten-year anniversary, I get a little more weirded out. Do you realize it's been TEN YEARS since...

...the Oklahoma city bombing
...Clueless
...the O.J. trial
...the release of No Doubt's Tragic Kingdom (still one of my favorite albums of all time)
...Forrest Gump

Then there are my own personal events, such as...
...I went on a three-week tour of Southern Europe (I still e-mail with one of the girls I met on the trip)
...Most of my high school friends graduated
...My sister became a color guard runner for our band (at ten, she was the youngest on the field)
...I failed pre-calculus and was allowed to drop the class, signaling my emancipation from math classes

None of that seems like it was ten years ago. Very weird. That's my thought for the day.

Gosh. I can still remember people at school being crowded around the TV waiting for the verdict. I was in Latin class when it came out.

I know. I was in Spanish class and they were trying to keep everyone from finding out about the verdict (my school was in the hood and the administration was afraid of riots if he was found guilty). Of course, someone leaked it just as we were changing classes, and I remember people yelling "The Juice is loose" and stuff like that.

Let's put things in perspective for you... when I was in high school, 20 years ago...
1985... Ronald Reagan was president.
The Challenger had not exploded yet.
We all had big hair and wore parachute pants.
Magnum, P.I. was still on t.v.
The Cosby Show was new.
O.J. Simpson was just a retired football player.
The only cable news network was. . .CNN :-)

There! You're not so old after all! :-)

Wow, you're making ME feel old. I remember everything, though I haven't seen Clueless or Forrest Gump and i don't think No Doubt was on my radar. But I was not quite 12 and a very sheltered homeschooler at the time.

Anyhow. Yeesh.

we are NOT old! but even if we were, we would just be one step closer to the three of us sitting around at the old folks home knitting, and thats not bad because we would all be back together again. ;) One of us should take up knitting just for that purpose.

:)

All that stuff seems forever ago to me. I often think back to stuff that happened about 5 years ago and think "wow..thats been like 10 years." I guess I am trying to make myself older.

love the brens

To make you feel less old: I was working when the OJ trial was happening. I had my little TV at work the day the verdict was announced. So see, you were at least still in high school then - I was already out of college and working!

It is weird to think that it was my junior year then. I was 16 ten years ago. Geez.

That year was my last of math too as I dealt with (ew) trig. I don't remember if I stuck out the whole year or not. I remember deciding not to continue with math though.

As I approach (in just a couple of short weeks) my two-digit birthday, ending in 0, I have been feeling old, myself. Now, you have added to my feelings. haha. Actually, that all sounds like a lifetime ago.

Ten years since Toy Story.

Now that is just wrong.

I do need to learn to knit. I keep putting it off since I have no skills in any other kind of fabric crafts. :P But I want to learn. Eventually.

You know, the weirdest thing about remembering this was thinking that I didn't even KNOW you or Kathy then.

I was just thinking about Tragic Kingdom the other day while I was at work and remembered how much I totally loved that cd when it came out. It doesn't feel like it's been that long, but I know it has to be true because I had just started working for the company and I was doing data entry all day...listening to my music while I worked..so I got to listen to that cd on repeat for many many days :)
