I'm doing this now, because who knows if I'll have time later.
1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before?
Took on an entire (albeit small) ministry; became part of a young married group; cooked a lot of new things.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
My new year's resolution was to watch all the Tom Hanks movies I hadn't seen. I didn't make much progress. I can't even keep a fun resolution, which is why I generally avoid resolutions.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No, but wait till next year. :D
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No, and I am so thankful.
5. What countries did you visit?
America.
6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?
I'm going with the general consensus of "a smaller booty." :)
7. What dates from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
January 26 - My dad had a stroke. One of the worst nights of my entire life.
August 6 - We got Peach!
August 29 - Hurricane Katrina hit.
October 8 - Kathy told me she was pregnant!
November 27 - our first anniversary!
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting promoted.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Failing to lose even one stinkin' pound.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Other than my face mysteriously puffing up that time, not really.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Peach!
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My sister's, for branching out, making new friends and trying new things.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Ray Nagin and Kathleen Blanco. :P
14. Where did most of your money go?
Bills and Evan's truck.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Visiting Em in Washington, DC, and going to the Kelly Clarkson concert!
16. What song will always remind you of 2005?
Kelly Clarkson - Since U Been Gone
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? about the same
b) thinner or fatter? fatter
c) richer or poorer? poorer (financially, anyway)
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Helping hurricane victims. I thought about going on one of our church's trips, but having no construction experience, figured I'd be more trouble than help.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Working. Ha ha.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
With my in-laws in New Hampshire.
22. Did you fall in love in 2005?
I was already there.
23. How many one-night stands?
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Smallville. You had to ask?
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No haters, no haters, mad 'cause I got floor seats at the Lakers.
26. What was the best book you read?
Girl Meets God by Lauren Winner (non-fiction); Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (fiction)
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Gavin DeGraw. I also want to list who I saw in concert this year, for my own memory's sake: at Music Fest - Switchfoot, Gavin DeGraw, Nickel Creek, Los Lonely Boys, Black Crowes, and Sarah McLachlan (!); then Kelly Clarkson in August.
28. What did you want and get?
A second cat, and new friends.
29. What did you want and not get?
A lot of material stuff that doesn't really matter.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Narnia, with runners up Elizabethtown and Walk the Line.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 26. I took a half day off work and we went to see March of the Penguins. Then we had dinner at McAlister's, and a TCBY cake. Yum.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
A house?
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005?
New York and Company.
34. What kept you sane?
God, Evan, and weekends.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Kelly Clarkson, I guess.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
I'd rather not think about it. :P
37. Who did you miss?
Emily and Kathy.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
We've met some really nice people at young married group, Andrew and Betsy especially. I also got to meet
Heather and Josh in person this year, which was cool.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005.
Home, possessions, and financial security can be taken from you in a minute, so it's good not to pour your life into those things.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
I am a flower quickly fading, here today and gone tomorrow
A wave tossed in the ocean, a vapor in the wind
Still You hear me when I'm calling
Lord, You catch me when I'm falling
And You've told me who I am
I am Yours
