Edge of Glory by Christine Brennan
An insider's perspective on figure skating leading up to the 1998 Olympics (her previous book, Inside Edge, was about the 1994 Olympics). It was fascinating. I've always felt Michelle Kwan was robbed of the gold in Nagano, but after reading this, I'm even more upset on her behalf.

A Cat Is Watching: A Look at the Way Cats See Us by Roger A. Caras
General facts and observations about cats. It was just okay.

Stupid and Contagious by Caprice Crane
The love story of two quirky Gen Xers, involving misdelivered mail, a stray dog, the storming of Starbucks corporate headquarters, getting arrested at a Kurt Cobain vigil, and a marriage proposal from a foreign guy with one eye. Because it also involves a lot of language and sleeping around, I can't recommend it wholeheartedly for everyone, but it's a fun story with endearing characters.

Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier
People have been telling me to read this for years. They were right. It's one twist after another. WOW.

Daniel Deronda by George Eliot
George Eliot's novels are kind of like cheesecake: dense, rich, and meant to be taken in slowly. :) She had such amazing insight into relationships and human nature. I didn't like this book as much as I liked Middlemarch, but it had a lot of the same good qualities.

The Yada Yada Prayer Group Gets Caught by Neta Jackson
I enjoy the Yada Yada series, but the diversity gets more over-the-top all the time. I cannot believe that a group THIS diverse could ever form by accident or that THIS much drama could befall them - it's like Law & Order: Mini United Nations. Still, I had a hard time putting this down.

The Miracle at Speedy Motors by Alexander McCall Smith
#9 in the Ladies' Detective Agency series! I enjoyed it as much as all the others, but one of the plotlines seemed a little off to me.

Miss Invisible by Laura Jensen Walker
LJW has improved a lot since her first book. This novel is about an overweight baker who feels invisible, until she makes a new friend who helps her turn her life around, find her purpose, and love herself for who she is...one step at a time. I really liked it!

Real Sex: The Naked Truth About Chastity by Lauren F. Winner
A great book that I think is beneficial for all Christians, regardless of your marital status. It was even more powerful so soon after reading A Return to Modesty, since they share similar themes. Lauren Winner rocks.

Sweethearts by Sara Zarr
A sad and sweet story about two best friends/childhood sweethearts who are separated after some traumatic events. Then they're unexpectedly reunited in their senior year of high school. I read it in a couple of hours because I couldn't stop. It was very believable (which is unfortunate given the fairly heavy subject matter).

I liked Sweethearts too, but I liked Story of a Girl by Zarr better. Did you read that one? Also, if you like cats, read Homer's Odyssey by Gwen Cooper. Seriously, it is an incredible story.

I'm glad to hear a good report on Real Sex! I picked it up at a discount bookstore on a whim because the summary on the back looked intriguing. I'm glad it's good!

I'm glad you enjoyed "Rebecca!" Just don't read the sequel that Susan Hill wrote, it's called "Mrs. DeWinter." It was so bad and I was so angry at what they did with it I tossed it across the room when it ended. I have never done that before or since, and I've read a lot of Jane Austen sequels. *nods*

I cannot WAIT to read the #1 Ladies Detective Agency! I have a couple of library books I need to finish first, but I think that one is finally close to the top of my queue.

I've been meaning to read Rebecca ever since seeing a classmate read it in 7th grade! but I hated the cheesy cover with the red velvet and gold lettering so I avoided it lol
