The ocean. Not at night, though. (That's an easy way to become Sharkie Snacks, for those of you who don't know.)

2. What time of day do you like to swim?
Early afternoon. Right after lunch.

3. Name your favorite scents of summer.
suntan lotion, the ocean, barbecueing

4. Name your favorite sounds of summer.
crickets, sprinklers

5. What is your favorite surface to step on with bare feet?
Thick grass, the kind that grows in Miami. It's like a carpet.

6. Do you like polished toenails? What color?
Yes - pink or purple.

7. Name the best summer clothes.
Surfer-girl Hawaiian print sundresses. I've been looking for a good one for two years.

8. Name some songs that remind you of summers of the past.

9. Speaking of memories, tell us a short story or two about events that took place during the summer.
Well, in the summer between my sophomore and junior years of college, I moved four times. My parents were moving from the hood to our new house in Bartlett, but it wasn't built yet. So I moved from the dorm to the hood house, the hood house to an apartment, the apartment to the new house, and the new house back into the dorm. That was a lot of fun, I can tell you. :P :)

10. US Residents: How do you celebrate Independence Day? Others: How do you celebrate whatever significant holiday you have that falls in the summertime?
I usually spend it at Kathy's parents' house. They always have a big party. The big fireworks display usually happens on the 3rd, and I like to go to that. And I also make my flag cake. :)

11. What do you think of summer school?
It depends. I went to a gifted school in Miami, and we had summer enrichment sessions where we would learn each week about a different topic, like hurricanes or Native Americans or Florida history. I loved that. Of course, I was also a big nerd.

12. What is your favorite blended drink?
strawberry daiquiri

13. What's your favorite thing to cook on the BBQ?
Um...barbecue? :)

14. If you had a free day during the summer, unlimited funds, and ideal company with you, what would you do and who would be there?
Kathy and Em and Evan and Ryan and I would go Hollywood, Florida, to the beach I grew up on, and spend the day there. And we would go to Mario's Pizza for dinner, and then drive down to Bayside and hang out and drink strawberry daiquiris, and pick up a Publix cake on the way back to my grandfather's house, where we would sit in the backyard by the canal and eat cake.

15. What is your favorite scenery/environment during the summer?
Any body of water. I like to watch the sun sparkling on the water. I even go to the pond near my parents' house just to look at it.

16. What is your favorite (summer) flower?
roses

17. How hot does it get where you live?
The heat indexes can get into the 110s. I know the heat well, since I had to march in it starting in July all through high school, and collapsed from heat exhaustion more than once.

18. How do you deal with the heat?
Take a lot of showers and stay inside until the evening.

19. What are your favorite restaurants to go to during the warm summer days/evenings?
Baskin-Robbins, Dixie Cafe

20. What are your favorite summer activities?
taking walks, going swimming, going to get ice cream

21. If you could spend your summer doing anything, what would you do?
If I ever had a big span of free time, I would like to travel. But I would like to spend a summer, someday, living in a beach house. :)

22. What perfume/cologne do you like to wear or smell on someone else during the summer (or if it doesn't matter what time of year that's fine too)?
So Pink is my summer perfume.

23. Do you like glitter?
Yes, but glitter makeup looks silly on me.

24. What color is your swimming suit?
White with red cherries!!!!

25. Do you wear sunglasses?
Whenever I am outside.

26. Would you prefer a convertible or a sunroofed car?
That's tough, but I would say sunroof just because it's easier and your hair doesn't get messed up.

27. Best summer insect:
fireflies, and those really green grasshoppers

28. Favorite kind of jewelry to wear or see on others:
necklaces

night

31. Does it annoy you to think about Summer in January?
It did at first, but now it's kind of nice. :)


I've noticed that Miami has been on my mind a lot lately. I must be having withdrawal. Maybe after the Hurricanes become national champions tonight, I will feel better. Bwahaha.

I just bought this with some of my Christmas money. I can't wait to get it. People will come from everywhere to admire my ceiling. :)

I've always thought it would be cool to take a whole room, cover the floor with comfy matresses, and paint a sky scene on the walls/ceiling with the light in the middle as the sun. Those stars sure would make a cool nighttime effect in such a room...
