snow, and a long quiz
Jan. 17th, 2003 10:00 amWell, we were supposed to get snow yesterday. We got about a millimeter. They closed all the schools early anyway. The news stations keep referring to it as "Winter Storm 2003," which is equivalent to calling a brief drizzle "Tornado Watch 2003." We are disgusted. :) There is more snow coming tomorrow, though. Hopefully.
This was hard, so I might not make a lot of sense.
Food Preferences:
What is your favorite type of jam/jelly? strawberry
What do you eat pepper on? omelets/scrambled eggs, sometimes noodles
If you could have any kind of milkshake right now what kind would it be? a cookie shake
Do you like watermelon, cantaloupe or honeydew the best? cantaloupe
How do you like steak/beef to be cooked? Well done. This disgusts the guys, so I occasionally eat medium well, for their sake. :)
Favorite salad dressing? ranch, blue cheese, Thousand Island
What do you eat catsup/ketchup on? Fries, hamburgers, hot dogs.
Do you like leftovers? They make good lunches.
Crunchy or smooth peanut butter? I like crunchy, but I just discovered that it has one more gram of fat than creamy. :(
Favorite type of Smoothie? Strawberry banana, I guess. There's not a very wide range of smoothie flavors around here.
Spicy or mild salsa? Mild. I like to enjoy the vegetables. :)
Etiquette:
Do you put your napkin on your lap when you eat a meal? Usually at restaurants, or at home when I am eating something messy and wearing khaki pants.
Do you shake hands with people you are meeting for the first time? Usually.
Do you introduce your friends/guests to other people that you know but they don't? yes
How do you begin (salutation) letters/emails to people? With their name, or "Hey." Gosh, I am so polite. :P
Do you talk with your mouth full? no
Do you take your hat off indoors? Yes, since I typically only wear hats when it's cold.
Do you put people on speaker phone? I don't like to. It's annoying.
How much eye contact do you make with people? I'm not sure. I try to look at them if they're talking. :)
Do you call anyone ma'am or sir? No...that's one Southern custom I have never wanted to adopt. And it bothers me when mothers make their kids call them ma'am. I can't really explain why.
How do you feel about other people calling you ma'am or sir (depending on your gender.. I anticipate some joke answers about being offended by people calling you the opposite so I'm nipping those in the bud, okay?)? I don't really like it. The whole idea of me as a ma'am makes me want to laugh anyway. I'm not that old. :)
Personality (please put some thought into these--this is the most insightful portion of the quiz!):
Describe your most prominent personality traits. thoughtful, silly, (over)sensitive, friendly
What are the differences (if any) between how you describe your personality and how others describe it? Some people label me as quiet and then refuse to form any other opinion of me. With people I trust, I am not quiet, so this annoys me.
What is your Myers-Briggs personality type, if you know? INFJ
What is your temper like? Slow-burning and then explosive. :P I will elaborate in the Anger section.
Discuss how you act/express yourself when you feel...
Sad - I lay around, and sleep more than usual, and don't feel like doing anything. Or I'll keep myself busy so I don't have to think about whatever is bothering me. I often have a hard time praying when I am sad, because I can't get past "God, please make this go away." :P
Overjoyed - I smile and laugh and dance around. :) I find that I am more forgiving when I'm happy. Things bother me much less.
Bored - I lose motivation, so that even if I find something I could be doing, I don't feel like doing it. (This happens at work sometimes. :P)
Embarrassed - I can sometimes laugh off embarrassment. But in extremely bad situations, I leave as soon as possible. Then I cry and/or beat myself up for saying/doing something so stupid. :)
Nervous - I start feeling sick. If I'm nervous or stressed for a couple of weeks or so, my blood sugar gets out of whack. This is why I usually lose weight after a stressful time. :P
Smitten - I talk about him incessantly. I smile uncontrollably when he calls. I sing and dance with the cat. :)
Envious or jealous - For me, jealousy usually leads to depression at my own inadequacy, and anger at myself for being jealous, which brings me back to my inadequacy. The circle can go on indefinitely. :P
Tired - I stop paying attention. My eyes close. Friends hit me in the head with pillows. LOL.
Angry - I try not to show anger, because I hate confrontation. So I hold it all in, until something makes me crack (sometimes totally unrelated to what I'm angry about), and I explode in a crying, unintelligible mess. Which confirms the popular theory that I am irrational and not to be taken seriously. :P
Relaxed - Things bother me less. I am able to see God's goodness in my daily life.
Touched/Moved - I become quiet and weepy. :)
Annoyed - I tell people about what's annoying me. They agree that it's annoying. I feel better. :)
Disappointed - I mope around and pray that God will help me to trust Him more in the situation.
Surprised - I feel energized and happy.
What do you do (if anything) to help alleviate another person's...
Sadness - I tell them how cool I think they are, and try to listen to their problems and offer advice. But I do my best to NEVER say that they shouldn't feel sad or that they should "snap out of it."
Boredom - I try to think of something to do. If they don't like any of my ideas, I get progressively sillier. :)
Embarrassment - Like Jessica, I tell them that it really isn't a big deal and they shouldn't worry about it. Later, if I hear other people talking about it, I tell them to leave the person alone. :)
Nervousness - I reassure them and tell them I will pray for them. (I like to pray with Debra when she's feeling nervous about things.)
Jealousy - I tell them that they are great and that people like them just the way they are. And since jealousy often involves Girls Prettier Than You, I might point out that girl's not-so-good qualities to my friend. Which I probably shouldn't do, but hey, what are friends for? :)
Anger - I let them vent. That's the best thing to do, I think.
Annoyance - I get annoyed right along with them. See my other answer for annoyance. :)
Disappointment - There's nothing you can really do for disappointment, except to be there for them. And pray.
This was hard, so I might not make a lot of sense.
