airport follies, etc.
Dec. 30th, 2002 04:37 pmSaturday was a very eventful day. I went to lunch with Debs and Grandma, and then we went to the Dixon Gallery and Gardens. (Grandma is an artist, so every time she comes to town, we have to hit all the museums.) Most of the gardens were bare, obviously, but we did see an extremely fat robin and some pretty statues.
In the evening, I went to pick Evan up at the airport. It was a total comedy of errors. I took a different route there because a train had stopped in the middle of the track. Then I thought I was lost. When I finally got to the airport, I couldn't find his flight, since he was flying US Air and I only knew where the Northwest concourse was. Finally I found it at Concourse C. He called. "I'm getting off the plane. Where are you?" I told him. Lots of his fellow passengers streamed by. No Evan. Ten minutes later, he called again. If you don't think this is funny...I promise it was ROTFL hilarious at the time. :)
Him: Where are you?
Me: At the end of the concourse!! Where are you?
Him: At the end of the concourse! Turn around.
Me: (turning around, not seeing him) Which concourse are you at?
Him: The main one, where everyone comes out!
Me: That's B! Your plane landed at C!
Him: Yeah, my plane landed at C, but I walked around to B!
Me: What did you do that for? You were supposed to come out at C!
Him: Just come over here to B!
Then we had to go looking for the C bag claim, which would have been much easier had we stayed at C in the first place. Additionally, I had parked in a spot about a mile from C bag claim, but a few feet from B. He made comments about the distance. I threatened to kill him. :)
We went straight from the airport to the church party/meeting at our friend Ashley's house. The point of the gathering was to talk to some elders about getting a new college/career minister for us. It did not go well. I will probably talk more about it tomorrow.
On Sunday I went to church with my family, and then we went to Shogun (just like Benihana) for lunch. We go once a year when Grandma is in town. It was delicious. Debra loves smiley faces, so she was excited about this trick our chef did with the fried rice. Then I went home and took a walk and a nap (not simultaneously). And I discovered that The Sound of Music was on, so I spent the evening scrapbooking and singing/crying over the movie. :)
Oh, and here is the promised picture of the plates Kathy's parents got me. I am saving them for a special occasion. Who knows when that will be. :P
