even children get older
Aug. 15th, 2003 03:45 pmNobody likes you when you're twenty-three and you still act like you're in freshman year...
- Blink-182, What's My Age Again?
I'm twenty-three now, but will I live to see twenty-four?
- Coolio, Gangsta's Paradise
I'm assuming so. :) Anyway, I wanted to make one more post before tomorrow. My friend Casey told me that twenty-four was her best year. Maybe it will be for me, too. I find that the intensity of my life has increased with my age. Do you know what I mean? My highs are higher and my lows are lower. Big things, like marriages and births and deaths, happen more and more often. I guess this is part of adulthood. It's something I hadn't really thought about until recently.
I bought two pairs of shoes on my lunch break. But they were on sale! One is a pair of one-strap brown heels. I've been wanting some more "dainty" shoes for a while, and they were ridiculously cheap. I think I should just have my checks deposited at Target to save time.
Emily's birthday is tomorrow. We were born eight hours apart. She's a faithful reader of my journal, so I have something for her. :)

Em and I have been friends since we met in the dorm in fall 1997. The first time I remember talking to her, she mentioned that she was born in Lebanon. I was like, "Wow! Lebanon! How cool!" I later found out that she meant Lebanon, Tennessee. :) Anyway, things only got better from there. We have been through countless classes, road trips, boy troubles, exercise videos, maids named Consuela, religious denominations, joys, and hardships together, and even though our roommate days are over, she will always be one of my best friends. Happy Birthday, Em! I love you!
Oh, look, I'm crying in my cubicle again. I'm a dork.
