I don't have much to talk about today. I was having a good day until a little while ago.
The biggest thing on my mind today is Mel Gibson's Primetime interview last night and all the topics therein. I've been trying to find an online transcript for those of you who missed it, but nothing's out there. In my opinion, it was amazing. Diane Sawyer could not have been any more condescending or disrespectful- she might as well have said, "Get a load of this lunatic." But Mel responded graciously, and he spoke the truth. I was impressed and proud. At the same time, I'm increasingly disturbed by the viciousness of media attacks on anyone and anything to do with this movie. It struck me anew last night how much the world hates us. Really hates us because of Whose we are and what we believe. This is nothing new and Jesus said we should expect it, yet it scares me. I don't take the Left Behind view of things, but sometimes I'm afraid we're heading toward a historic period of persecution. When I'm old, will I be worrying about retirement, or about trying not to be killed for my faith? What kind of hostile world am I going to bring my future children into? I pray none of us will have to deal with that.
On a much less serious note, apparently it is not okay to (very briefly) kiss your boyfriend goodbye in your workplace parking lot. Because everyone you work with will see you and then scold you about it as if you were sixteen.
