I had lunch with Tiff and her kids, and my mom. Tiff and I didn't get to talk much because Tanner was cranky. I don't know how she manages those boys when she's by herself so often. It's amazing. I want kids someday, but sheesh, I don't know if I have the patience for all that. God gives according to your need, I guess. :)

My hair is growing and looking a little less nice. Highlighting veterans, I need your advice. What do you do when your roots start showing? Do you have to re-highlight your whole head? I don't want to go back to one flat color, but neither do I want to keep adding this light blonde to my hair. I was hoping she could do some more toned-down colors. I have no idea how this works. Help!

I usually have the roots colored instead of the entire head again. I only do the whole head if I want a new color. Otherwise, it can make your hair kind of, well, fried.

Yeah..usually you just get your roots done. However if you want a new color you can do that too. I know people at my salon get lowlights (make their hair darker) and then get highlights over that...which I think is odd...but have considered it...I wouldn't mind getting my hair done a little more auburnish..

I actually don't know how it works either, so I'm learning from these responses. I never have had my hair colored professionally--I always do it myself. Sometimes after the roots grow out a lot I'll just dye my hair back to its original color. Highlights tend to look okay for awhile after growing, even. They just look kind of natural and stuff. You can always go in and highlight the roots a little yourself to blend it up. It's fun. :) I'd do it for you if you were around. I did highlights in my sister's hair once (it's easier on someone else) and she got a lot of compliments! Wow, I just realized that I'm bragging. I just meant to say, home-coloring isn't a horrible option.
