musical cheer
Sep. 9th, 2003 04:13 pmEveryone should go buy the new issue of Elle, which has a major story about Clay, complete with stunning photos. I'm getting my copy on the way home. That darn Clay is turning me into a magazine-buying fool. :)
Last night I went to sleep at 9:30. I hadn't done that in a couple of years. I had a bad headache and was extremely tired. Today, I feel more refreshed than usual, so maybe I should make an occasional practice of it. In the night I accidentally kicked something at the foot of my bed. Then I felt tiny teeth biting my foot, realized it was Gandalf, and went back to sleep.
What are some songs that always cheer you up (for one reason or another)? I thought of that topic over the weekend.
1. Stacy's Mom - Fountains of Wayne So wrong, yet so hilarious.
2. Say It Ain't So - Weezer Actually, every Weezer song cheers me up, but this is my favorite. It's one of the greatest songs ever recorded, IMHO. And I like the harmony.
3. Harder to Breathe - Maroon 5 Come on, this is just a fun song. Though I just found out that Evan and Ryan hate it. What's up with that?
4. Come On Over - Christina Aguilera A release for my flirty side. And a much better choice than Shania Twain's "Man, I Feel Like A Woman," which I have unfortunately sung along with, enthusiastically, several times.
5. Under the Bridge - Red Hot Chili Peppers It brings back my few happy memories of middle school; plus I have to sing weirdly and dramatically to sound like him, which I can't do without laughing.
6. Dive - Steven Curtis Chapman This song always reminds me of our RUF trip to Tallahassee in 2001. We went to a place called Wakulla Springs where you jump off platforms into the water. Evan and I were too afraid to jump off the high one, so we just stood up there and watched the local pre-teens leap off happily. :) It's a great song and a happy memory.
7. Love Is A Verb - dC Talk Another song I loved in middle school.
8. What's My Name? - Snoop Doggy Dogg Wow, this is an eclectic list. Anyway, this is my favorite rap song of all time and I have no idea why.
9. Ice Cream - Sarah McLachlan One of the happiest love songs I know.
10. Save Me - Hanson Yeah, I like Hanson. Be quiet. :) This song cracks me up with its extreme melodrama. Also, I like the way Taylor sounds at the beginning of the song, so I often start it over several times before letting it run.
Gosh, that took two hours because people kept bringing me work.

Oh, "Stacy's Mom" is waay, waaaaay too funny. And waaay too wrong. But it's so funny!
I love "Ice Cream". That would have made my list if I hadn't seen it up on the top of my monitor.
I wondered who sang "Harder to Breathe". Now I know.
Cool, cool cool.

Date: 2003-09-10 04:12 pm (UTC)Oh, I suppose I can be thematic and add "Mona Lisa Overdrive" from the Matrix Reloaded soundtrack... :) Not a cheerful song but great chased-by-evil music. :)-

Date: 2003-09-10 06:10 am (UTC)I like Only Hope, too. I need to get that CD. And Crossroads- awesome song! That takes me back. :) I remember people singing that on my school bus.
