Well, the Revolution is over. I'm going to quote
lifeofbrian and say Matrix > Revolutions > Reloaded. It wasn't what I expected, but it didn't disappoint me. I enjoyed it, even if I spent the last half-hour of it shaking from the tension. (EDIT: I liked this summary from an article in Newsweek online: "If you missed the second part, you will be hopelessly lost. Even if you saw it, expect more confusion than your average action movie delivers. Now it’s not just a matter of man vs. machine, but humans and programs and machines with competing interests.")
This morning on my way to work, as it was raining a little, I skidded going around a curve and slid across two lanes of oncoming traffic. Thankfully, it was near a red light so no one was coming at the time. I never expected that in non-icy conditions. Anyway, I'm thankful God protected me.
Lately I've been in a Christian-music mood, so I'm listening to my WOW 2003 CD a lot. I noticed right away that Steven Curtis Chapman's "Magnificent Obsession" song has exactly the same tune as "Dive," only slower. I'm telling you, it's the same song. Maybe Curds (hi,
dakoda :)) needs to stick to lyrics for a while.
Job
Do you work (if you don't, you can answer these questions for school)? Yes.
How many hours per week? 40 (full-time)
What are your main responsibilities? Don't just tell us your job title, explain what you do with your day. Our department takes care of the contract needs of franchised hotels, from the application phase to the opening phase. I do a lot of copying and making FedEx labels. I trot around the building distributing info packets for new hotel projects. I track down VPs to sign our documents, and then I send the documents back to the franchisees. I call slacker franchisees who haven't returned their documents or forms on time, send a massive e-mail notice any time anything is approved or signed, and enter a lot of information in our database. Like Lauren's, my job is "reactive," so I'm usually either bored or insanely busy.
Do you like your boss/supervisor? Yes. I'm the admin for two managers (but only one of them is my boss boss). They're really nice ladies and I consider myself blessed to work for them.
How long does it take you to get to work and how do you travel there? 12 minutes driving. I'm glad to live so close.
How long do you see yourself working at this particular company? Until I have kids. :\ I'm apparently going to be a lifetime administrative assistant, so I don't see the point in giving up this cushy company to do the same thing somewhere else.
What is the dress code at your place of work? "Business casual." Each department tends to be different, though. Most of us aren't very dressy.
Weekly Activities
What weekly appointments do you have that you attend fairly regularly (bible studies, church, errands, rehearsals, time with friends--anything that you plan to do regularly counts here)? Monday: cleaning/laundry night. Tuesday: Dinner at McAlister's with Ryan. Sometimes I go to RUF too. Wednesday: Wednesday Lunch. In the evening, church band practice. If I don't have that, I go to Bible study with Evan. Thursday: Tutoring at Streets, and then home to watch Friends. Friday: This was Evan's and my date night, but we've had other social obligations for a few weeks now. :( Saturday: Relaxing. ! Sunday: Church, hanging out with Evan (often at my parents' house), then to evening church at IPC.
What is your favorite of your weekly activities? I like Saturday and Sunday. :)
Are there any weekly activities you wish you didn't have to do? Cleaning and laundry. It takes the whole night. I also wish I didn't have practice every week, or that it was more productive when I did.
Are there any weekly activities you'd like to put into your schedule if you could? I'm trying to do aerobics some evenings, but it's hard to fit in even a ten-minute workout. I'd also like to see Kathy more, but that's up to her schedule more than mine.
Travel
Have you ever been to the Sacramento area of California? (Hey, I'm just curious) Yes. :D
Where in the US have you never been but you'd really like to go? Hawaii, Boston, and NYC.
Where do you think people have the cutest/prettiest accents? Ireland and Australia
Where is the most exotic (for lack of a better word) place you've travelled to? Um...Spain?
How long was your longest vacation and where did you go? I went to Europe for three weeks when I was fifteen.
LiveJournal
Who from your LJ friends list did you know in person before you began your journal?
aardwolf and
yakko7178 (they got me started)
Who from your LJ friends list did you know online before you began your journal?
kiwiria
Who from your LJ friends list do you spend time with (in person) on a regular basis (2+ times per month)?
aardwolf,
admael,
derisive1,
helenangel, and
yakko7178. I also see
azngal324 and
rawee1 occasionally, but they don't come to lunch very often.
Who from your LJ friends list lives the closest to you but you have never met them in person? I think it's
chocomilkbanana in Nashville. We need to hook up sometime when I'm visiting my sister. :)
Eating
How often do you go out to a restaurant (sit-down where they have servers) for a meal? Once or twice a week- after church, and usually another time with Evan or my family.
Which restaurants do you frequent (all types of restaurants apply here) the most? McAlister's, Chick-fil-A, Chili's, El Porton, American Cafe
What single non-meal food/drink item do you treat yourself to the most (i.e. a coffee at Starbucks, cookie, bagel, smoothie, etc.)? Oh and I don't mean a grocery item or something in your house, I mean something you buy at a restaurant-type of establishment that is already made. Nice long explanation for a simple question, Jessica! In summer I get a lot of McAlister's tea. I have also been known for periodic TCBY addictions.
What types of meals do you cook for yourself most often? Noodles with spinach or broccoli, or sometimes nachos. I'm not very creative when it's just me.
Entertainment
Which TV shows (if any) do you watch regularly? Friends and Scrubs are the only shows I actually make time for. I catch West Wing, Everybody Loves Raymond, Good Morning Miami, and CSI Miami when I'm home and not busy.
How often do you go to the movie theater? A few times a month.
How often do you rent movies? Rarely. I just don't have time. But there are many recent DVD releases that I want to see.
What types of concerts, plays, shows, etc. (movies don't count) have you attended in the past year? This year I saw Annie and Blast! at the Orpheum, and I went to the American Idol concert. I also went to the Kiev Symphony's performance at my church. Oh, and I saw Derek Webb not long ago.
What types of concerts, plays, shows, etc. would you LIKE to attend soon? I don't know. I'll see what's coming to town.
Gosh, I feel so wasteful and spoiled. I seem to go out a lot more than most of you. Oh well. I won't be able to if/when I have a family, so I might as well enjoy it now.
