chestnutcurls: (happy couple)

Yay for Friday! I have a lot of fun plans for the weekend- with different friend groups. Quality catch-up time is coming my way. :) It's my last three-day weekend until Memorial Day, so I need to enjoy it. What are all of you doing?

The other day I found a burned CD with no label and had no idea what it was. It turned out to be my 1991 soundtrack, the last one I burned before I stopped downloading. It takes me right back to sixth grade. Speaking of CDs, I just mailed a batch. The shipping was cheaper than I expected! I still need some addresses- Messa? Kimma? DeAnna? Beth?

I've done so well with the eating this week, and today I'm blowing it right and left. I had a sample of strawberry smoothie this morning, and a small piece of cake just now because it was our monthly birthday party. Tonight I want to make a special dinner for Evan, which needs to include a dessert if he's going to be extra happy. Well...there's always tomorrow. :P I'm starting to believe that sugar really is addictive. Since I've been abstaining, I don't crave it so much. But as soon as I eat one M&M, I'm doomed. It's weird.

I don't think I've mentioned that my annual work conference is coming up- the one that was in Vegas last year. This year it's in New Orleans again. Because, you know, I haven't already been there fifteen times. The good news is, it's only three days, and this morning our senior VP sent us luggage! One carry-on suitcase and two smaller totes for each of us. Our names are already printed on the tags. It was a nice surprise. I like that guy. :) Now I'm reading up on packing techniques so I can use the new suitcase instead of my usual huge one.

Last night I got an idea and wrote something. It was only two paragraphs. Still, it was something. :)

I like candles. I feel compelled to share that for some reason.

My thoughts are with the Northeasterners. Please try to stay warm, guys! I asked Evan if he had called his parents in New Hampshire and he was like, "Why? They're fine." Then I heard that the wind chill in NH was -100 this morning. Yes, two zeros. I don't know how you guys can handle this. If it was ever -100 here, I'm positive that my heater would explode.

What songs were on your 1991 soundtrack? That was a GREAT year for music! :)

When me and my friend Susan went to Toronto, we made a "less is best" pact when it came to packing! She won and took less stuff, but I tried really hard! I asked myself about every item of clothing, "Am I really going to wear this? Am I positive?" Anyway, that's just an idea for you. I actually ended up not wearing a couple of the shirts I took! And I always always take too many toiletries "just in case" which is rediculous!
I've been having trouble with sugar today too. *blush* I've discovered the joy of chocolate chip cookies and peanutbutter, but it's okay because there are no more in the house. I made sure of it!

I also meant to ask if it was too late to order a cd? :)

-100? That doesn't sound right. I heard it was -30 in Boston.

I'm so happy you wrote something! If you ever need an audience, I'm here eagerly awaiting something to read. :)

Let's see if I can remember:
Hole Hearted - Extreme
Love of a Lifetime - Firehouse
High Enough - Damn Yankees
Winds of Change - Scorpions
Shiny Happy People - REM
Love Thy Will Be Done - Martika
Everything I Do - Bryan Adams
Round and Round - Tevin Campbell
I'm Your Baby Tonight - Whitney Houston

That's all I can think of. Man, I have so many memories associated with those songs... :)

Yeah! Normally I'd be okay doing that, but these business conferences are nerve-wracking. I never know what other people will be wearing, and there are tons of fashion conscious Beverly Hills people there. So I end up packing a million things and wearing four of them. :P

Hey, it's okay! Little Emily needs cookies too. lol.

That's what our ticker said this morning. Apparently there's a mountain or something in NH which makes the wind chill worse.

Thanks! It was practically nothing, but at least it was a step.

Hey, the journal of a thousand pages begins with a single sentence...or something like that... : )

I just figure that if I can write a novel, so can anyone!

When will you be in New Orleans? If you're not too busy, I can always swing by for dinner or coffee or whatnot. :-)

Eep! :-X
If it were ever -100 here...people would die (& no, I'm not exaggerating). We're "extremely cold" here when it's like 40*, lol.

Ooooh, nice gift from the boss man! :D

Oh my...you mentioned M&Ms...& I don't have any! *cries*

I'll be there Sunday night (the 25th) through Wednesday afternoon. I won't get any free time, though, unfortunately. I was going to have Sunday night free because the conference doesn't start until Monday, so I was going to hang out with Em. Then our group's VP decided that since our department was getting in Sunday night, we needed to have an "outing" together. So there you go. :P I'd have loved to see you, too. Wah.

I liked it! It wasn't nearly as sleazy as I had expected. Of course, I also stuck to the strip and didn't hang out in any alleys. :)
