Yay, Friday already! More time with Evan tonight. Last night was fun. We have a donut place that we used to go to all the time when we were just friends. At 11 pm all the donuts are half-price, so we'd wait till 11 and then head over there. We hadn't been in a while, so even though it was early, we hung out there and talked and I had A Donut. It was a nice mini-date. When we got back I did ten minutes of kickboxing to counteract the donut. :) (I know that's not enough, but at least my conscience was assuaged.)

My foot is healing. It feels bruisey. There's a big blue area near my toes, and a purpley-red area near the side of my foot. It's faint, though, like the bruise is way down in my foot. Good times.

Well, we're all getting ready for our conference today. The packs of people talking haven't dissipated like they usually have by this time of day. I fly out Sunday afternoon and will return Wednesday evening. So, unless I get bored and look for the computer area at the hotel, you guys won't hear from me for about a week. Enjoy your break. LOL.

1. What was your *least* favorite part of Lord of the Rings? Book or movie, your choice
My least favorite part of the movies was when they made Faramir into a Ring-hungry wacko. :P My least favorite part of the books is probably in Two Towers where Frodo and Sam are just walking...and walking...and walking....
2. If you could tell the world one important thing about God, what would it be?
That He is holy, and the only way He can receive us is if Christ has paid for our sin. It's good to know that God is love, but He is also righteous, and righteousness can't have sin in its presence. We are all sinners in need of a Savior.
3. What's the funniest thing that's ever happened to you?
Oh my gosh, like I could pick one thing? My family and I used to camp a lot when I was in middle school. One night we had just gotten to camp and were out on the lake on the boat. There was a full moon and we were singing songs to the moon. All of a sudden, a big fish jumped right into our boat. We decided he must have been drawn to our singing. I promise, it was hilarious.
4. Tell us about your favorite Evan outfit :)
Of his? :) Um...he recently bought some green cargo pants that I like a lot. And he got several new Polo pullovers for Christmas that I find very snuggly. :)
5. How do you plan to vote in the election?
I will vote for Bush, and here's why. I was talking about this with Helen the other day. Even though I don't agree with some of the things Bush is doing, I know that he shares my convictions. I know that he will fight for traditional marriage, the right to life, and the values that are most important to me. I don't have that guarantee with a Democrat. As some other LJers have said recently, to me it comes down to life. If a candidate is pro-abortion, I cannot vote for him/her. If that makes me a closed-minded, arrogant member of the Moral Majority, then slap a bumper sticker on my back. :P :)

1. What are the top 5 reasons you like Evan?
1. He's a Christian. 2. He's a genius. 3. He makes me laugh constantly. 4. He is a sweet and considerate friend. 5. He's a total hottie.
2. What's your favorite kind of cookie?
White chocolate macadamia. Also, oatmeal chocolate chip.
3. Where would you like to go for your honeymoon (should you have one)?
Hawaii. It meets all my criteria: relaxing, beachy, good food, beautiful scenery. And I haven't been there before. For some reason, I don't want to honeymoon in a place I've been before.
4. Were you into brand names when you were younger? Did you wear things like Guess and Esprit? :)
We were too poor for brand names, which made me an object of ridicule of the snobs at my school. I did have a couple of Girbaud items that my mother found at Germantown yard sales. (What happened to Girbaud?)
5. What movie can you watch the most?
Probably The Wedding Singer. Kathy and I used to watch part of it every day. :)

1. If you could have any kind of car, what would it be and why?
A navy blue VW Cabriolet with tan leather interior. I had a church friend who had one, and it was the most beautiful car I had ever seen. Plus, I just like Volkswagens.
2. If you could have all your energy from wind farms all over your landscape, would you choose clean energy or nice landscape?
Clean energy. I mean, we already have cellular towers ruining the landscape anyway. Why not save our environment a little in the process? I wish we'd put more thought into alternative energy. The dependence on oil worries me sometimes.
3. If you were to live abroad, where would you choose to go?
I think I'd go to London. They speak English and it's a good home base from which to visit other countries. Plus, I've been reading British books lately and seeing a lot of movies set in London, so I have a renewed desire to go there. Don't you love my Americanized perceptions of your part of the world? :)
4. What's your favourite website after livejournal.com?
Probably MSNBC.com. I read articles there when there's nothing going on.
5. What's your favourite non-LJ weblog, if you read any?
Besides Sunburned, my friend Jenn's blog (she's also on LJ as [livejournal.com profile] enjoythemoment), definitely sarahhatter.com. Sarah is a writer who moved cross-country to pursue her writing, and she says the most incredible and profound things.

1/ who is your favourtie LOTR character and why so?
Eowyn, because she's an incredible woman. She's simultaneously strong and weak, brave and afraid. She risks her life for her people while she's heartbroken inside, and in the end she's humble enough to know that what she wanted isn't what was best for her.
2/ Why "argyle socks" as comments?
Because my background pattern reminded me of argyle socks. :)
3/ would you change your job or career choice, if so, what to?
If I had had the right training to begin with, I would be a librarian, I think. Or a freelance writer. I would have enjoyed writing for a magazine, and my mother is always telling me to find a job at a Christian magazine. Because, you know, there are so many job openings at Christian magazines, and they're dying to hire non-published people without journalism degrees. Anyway, I'm kind of imprisoned by my lack of education or experience in any field I find interesting.
4/ What is your favourite quote from a book?
"Now it is a strange thing, but things that are good to have and days that are good to spend are soon told about, and not much to listen to; while things that are uncomfortable, palpitating, and even gruesome, may make a good tale, and take a deal of telling anyway." - Tolkien, The Hobbit
5/What other "freaky" things do you do, apart from sort the arrangement of your pillows?
LOL! I hang my clothes in the closet by color and type. I rotate other items of clothing, and things like towels, to ensure even use. My CDs and movies are alphabetized. I vacuum two or three times a week. I can tell when someone has moved a piece of furniture even an inch. I fold my food wrappers, even straw wrappers sometimes when I'm not thinking about it. Those are the biggies. Are you sorry you asked? :D

1. If someone told you right now that they would give you a copy of any book you want, what would you choose?
Do You Think I'm Beautiful by Angela Thomas. I first heard about it from Shana, and since then I've heard other good reviews of it.
2. What's the most amount of money you've ever happened across lying orphaned somewhere (that didn't belong to you when it got lost)?
I'm not sure; probably about a dollar. But I could tell you about finding $100 in a pair of socks that I had hidden four months earlier. :)
3. Describe the layout of your dream house (along with the decor, if you want).
Oooo, great question! :D It would be brick, because brick lasts forever, and two or maybe three stories. There would be a nice front porch with a swing. It would have an open living area and a nice staircase with wooden banisters. The kitchen would have blue walls, oak cabinets, nice new appliances, and an island. There would be several bedrooms, depending on how many kids I end up with. :) On the top floor there would be a library/craft room with lots of light and a window seat to read in. In the back yard I would have a nice garden and maybe a pool.
That was fun. :)
4. Can you whistle, wiggle your ears, or go cross-eyed?
I can go cross-eyed but can't do any other facial acrobatics.
5. What is one way you've changed over the past few years that you are happy about, if any?
Well, I can think of several areas where I haven't changed for the better. :( But, hard as it is to believe, I think I'm more relaxed than I used to be. I've made a little progress in not making a huge deal about everything. That's Evan's influence. :)

Great questions, everyone! And now the promised poll!

:) I can just visualize your house. You remembered all the essential elements! Porch swing, garden, window seat... Fun to dream ahead, isn't it?

Yeah. I'll never have a house like that, though, unless someone donated a million dollars to me. :)

I like your icon!

Just in case you win a buncha moolah in the new lottery, you may want to visit London before packing up & moving there. It's dirty, everyone is always in a hurry & rushing around, and expensive. Definately worth a visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!
Have great fun on your trip to New Orleans :)
