Man, are my journal colors in style or what? :D I was reading an article the other day about how style has become our culture's new idol of choice. We've forgotten what real beauty and substance is, so we've become hyper-focused on how we present ourselves- not what we really are. The problem isn't new, I guess. It's just new packaging. C.S. Lewis was very wise: "We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in the slum because he can not imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased."

I'm very guilty of style abuse, too. I have developed a sudden, desperate need for a pair of dark brown boot-cut corduroy pants. Has anyone seen cute ones anywhere? On sale?

Evan called earlier and tonight we're going to dinner and a movie! :D We had talked about seeing The Butterfly Effect, but now I'm hearing disturbing things about it. So I'm thinking Big Fish. He's so good at making me happy. I'm so undeserving of him. :)

Okay, now I'm really done for the day. :) Hasta la vista, baby.

I'm going to see The Butterfly Effect with my parents tonight... I'll let you know how it went.

Yeah, see, that was why I changed my mind about it. The secular movie reviewers were saying how graphic and disturbing it was. It's too bad because it was an interesting concept.

Let me know if you find 'em - I'm looking for the same. :)

I was planning on seeing Butterfly Effect tonight, but then I read some really bad reviews (the reviewer made sitting through it sound like torture, LOL). Big Fish sounds like a good bet, though. Everyone I know who's seen it, liked it.

I have some brown corduroy pants, boot cut, button fly. They are from the mens dept at Target, very reasonably priced and terribly comfortable.

I see this "undeserving" and "guilt" thing in your journal all the time. When will you realize that, if you are worthy of God's love (which he has deemed you), you are definitely worthy of a pair of pants and someone who will treat you nicely?

It is okay to make yourself happy. You DO deserve it!

That Lewis quote is so profound, and it's one that I have long admired, too. *hugs* Such truth!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend, Brenda. :-) Let me know how you like "Big Fish"!

I plan on seeing The Butterfly Effect, and if I do, I'll let you know how it was. It looks like it might be kinda disturbing from the previews, so I can just about imagine what it's like in it's entirety. I still wanna see it though, and like I said, I'll let ya know how it was if I get to see it.

NEVER say you are unworthy of Evan!!!! Blah! :)
ANyway, here's the answers to your interview of me :)

1. How long did it take you to write your first book?
- it only took me a month, then another two two get it in print - but I'd been developing the setting and characters for about 14, 15 years at that point.

2. Did you go to college, and if so, where?
- Phoenix Jr. College - never got to the real thing :( :( :( It still breaks my heart that I never made it all the way, but life turned into chaos and I couldn't manage them both.

3. What was your favorite school year, and why?
- My sophomore year in high school, when I first met the gal I'd fall in love with for years. (had a nasty ending, but it first, it was good to be alive).

4. What is your favorite holiday?
- Halloween. I'm morbid that way. :)

5. Have you ever traveled out of the country, and if so, where? If not, where would you like to go?

- I've gone to Mexico. My family briefly went to Europe but I missed that because I couldn't get out of work.
