Happy Friday! Hace mucho frio hoy. The high was supposed to be 50-something, but now they say we'll struggle to reach 32. February is coming, and that's often a snowy month for us. ("Snowy" meaning "several flurries, with one accumulating two inches.") :)

After hearing this news, I'm even more excited about the Super Bowl! Because of my trips, I haven't gotten to watch the game with friends in two years. We're having a church party. I'm looking forward to it. Root for the Patriots: it's what our founding fathers would have wanted you to do. (Was American football even invented in 1776?)

Kathy is re-reading the Harry Potter books. I need to re-read Book 5, because our discussions have kicked up again. The other day she came into the living room and announced, apropos of nothing, "Somewhere there's a snake that's Harry's friend." I quickly understood what she was getting at, but Daniel, who does not read fiction, thought she had finally gone nuts.

I forgot to mention that Evan and I did see Big Fish last week. It's well worth your time. If you liked Moulin Rouge, you'll like this because it has the same surreal quality. I thought it was a beautiful movie.

So who's watching The Apprentice? I never thought I'd get into this show, but it's addictive. Evan is more hooked on it than I am, which I find hilarious.

[livejournal.com profile] stacye13 just told me that they have brown corduroy pants at Target, so I may be completing my pants mission after work. Woo hoo! Have a great weekend!

But it's just a ruuuuuumor! Wah. It's a happy fun rumor, but still. It'll probably end up being Timberlake. Of course.

Wah. Well, it's still news that he's going there. :D He must be involved in some capacity.

I love that icon. LOL.

Just popping in to say I'm really glad you are back! And on your suggestion, Steven and I will probably see Big Fish very soon! We haven't seen a movie in the theater together in a looong time and we both loved Moulin Rouge! So it should be a good experience. :-)
Thanks for the tip!

I'm loving The Apprentice... I have my DVR record every episode so I don't miss one. I'm so glad Trump daddy finally laid into the women for hoaring themselves out to make a buck. :P

Is the friendly snake from the first book, where Harry makes the glass disappear and sets the snake free?

Yeah, I didn't think they deserved to win! The men worked much harder.

Yes, that's the one. Kathy thinks he'll show up again sometime.

<> I'm not sure we can be friends anymore.

lol, jk... but it should be Go Panthers!! :-)

I just finished my 3rd read of HP5 (um, second reread). Yes, I finally read the entire series (twice! lol), but needed to reread 5 since my siblings kept discussing it. There's just so much in it! I'm already anxiously awaiting book 6 and movie 3. :o) But I digress, yes, Kathy is correct - it'd be cool if that snake showed up later on. =) Hehe... what if that snake attacks old Voldy? LOL Now that'd be hilarious. :o}

I watch the apprentice. I missed it last week and I was reading a book and only half paying attention this week. Those girls are kicking butt. They seemed to hold it together better this week - teamwork. If they don't keep it up their going to have a meltdown. See, the guys may be fewer but soon the quality vs. quantity aspect is going to play into their performance. Don't you think so?

So annoying!!!

I still haven't read Book 5...for some reason I can't seem to break down and buy the hardcover...and too embarassed to borrow it from the library. Maybe I'll get a huge windfall of money and buy both it and the new Norah Jones CD next month.

I can dream. *grin*

Hey, there is NOTHING shameful about being an adult HP fan. There are thousands of us. :) They have "adult" prints of the book, with plain covers that have scary photos of castles and stuff.

I know...I don't quite know what my problem is. I had no problem going into the bookstore and buying the first four books...but I just can't bring myself to borrow a book from the children's section. (Which is where all our library's copies are shelved.)

Of course, when it was newer I was worried that I'd be depriving some child who'd been waiting anxiously for hte book to come out since before I'd started reading them. :-) I guess it's been out long enough that I can't use that as an excuse any longer! :-)

I'm not into reality tv shows (actually I don't even own a tv at the moment), but my chiropractor told me something interesting about one of the guys one The Apprentice (not sure which). He's not really into "reality" shows, either, but I guess his sister watched the first episode of it and in the middle called him up and told him to look in his high school yearbook cuz she thought she recognized one of the contestants as having graduated with him. Turns out he had, although neither the face nor the name of the guy stood out in his memory. Startling, though, was the guy's quote printed next to his senior picture: something to the effect of, "Donald Trump, here I come!!" :-O Hehe, my chiropractor said that while he doesn't remember the guy himself, he does remember reading that quote back then and thinking, "Oh brother, that is the dumbest thing..." LOL

Weird.

:)

Oh my gosh! That's so weird!! :)

It wasn't Sam, was it? I couldn't stand that guy. Evan called him "The Weasel."

I'm not sure, it could have been. He told me when he watched the following episodes, it was purely out of a fascination of horror, because the guy was so obnoxious. He figured he was only left on as long as he was for dramatic purposes, hehe.
