well, it's hard bein' Snoop D-O-double-G
Apr. 18th, 2002 10:51 amI have been reminiscing about our RUF mission trip to New Orleans last year. It was the best mission trip I've ever been on. We worked at Desire Street Ministries, which is an outreach in one of the worst neighborhoods of New Orleans. Later, the director of another ministry took us on a driving tour of the projects. It was eye-opening, and sad. But it's good to know that people do get out of there. (Our guide said, "This is Master P's housing project," and suddenly all of us were glued to the windows. :))
When we weren't working, we were eating. And roaming around the French Quarter. And taking a million wrong turns between there and our hotel. One of the guys kept playing the country/bluegrass version of "Gin and Juice," which is the most hilariously horrible thing I have ever heard. I think it's interesting how we subconsciously expect certain genres to be more "decent" than others. You really don't notice how depraved rap lyrics are until you hear them set to another kind of music, and then suddenly you're outraged. :)
Anyway, these are the things I remember. I am blessed to have such happy memories. :) There are some pictures of this trip on the powerpoint, which is posted on my webpage for a limited time!
