I just discovered something that will make my revamping-the-file-room project a lot easier, and I was so excited about it that I completely forgot I hadn't posted yet today. So, lest you think I am dead or suffering from creative block, here we go.
Evan and I had a wonderful six-monthiversary. We ate at Benihana, and a couple from our church was at our table. They even knew Evan's mom! After dinner we went to Seize the Clay and ended up choosing cereal bowls (we like to eat cereal together in the evenings). Evan is very artistically talented, but I don't often get to see that side of him. He painted the entire inside of his bowl with an Eye of Sauron, complete with flames. It was a hilarious idea and I can't wait to see how it comes out. In comparison, my bowl is yellow with blue and purple butterflies stamped on the outside, and Froot Loops painted on the inside. I'll post pictures after I pick them up on Friday. That place is addictive...I already want to go back.
A few hours later, Evan left for a mudding event in Hot Springs. Ryan had wrecked his brand-new Jeep Liberty on Friday (he's fine) and was pretty bummed, so Debs and I spent Saturday with him at my parents' house. Then my parents took us all to dinner, which was nice. Sunday was also low-key, and there was no evening service at IPC. So when Evan got home, I took him to Garibaldi's for dinner and we had a nice reunion. Yes...eating with people takes up most of my free time. And I wonder why I have too little money and too much weight. :)
Also, it was exciting to hear about the Tigers' #7 NCAA seed. Coach Calipari lives exactly a mile from my apartment; when I take walks, my usual turn-around point is right in front of his house. I took my Sunday walk right before the brackets were announced. A news van went by and I wondered what was going on. When I got home, I flipped to that channel and they were interviewing players in Cal's front yard. Fun fun. :) I don't expect us to make it past the second round - if that - but we're still doing better than last year. Small moves, Ellie, small moves.
As a reward for finishing Desiring God, I went to the library last night and got some lighter non-fiction books. I've already torn through Think Like A Cat. I learned a few important things, but I didn't like the way the book implied that every cat behavior problem is caused by the owner. So it's my fault when Gandalf breaks a glass? :P I really need to start having regular playtimes with him. The book recommends a playtime right before you go to bed, to keep the cat from being disruptive in the night. I tried it, and Kathy reported that he didn't pester her until her alarm went off today!
Oh, and my foot is better! Thanks to
joyfulgal for the great Epsom salt advice. I soaked my foot briefly on Friday, and by the next morning there was hardly any pain. Yay!

Date: 2004-03-16 01:38 pm (UTC)haha, that's great. I can't wait to see the finished product! Our store here is called "Color Me Mine" & I did a light switch for myself. I had been looking for a tiger stripped one to go with my room....since I couldn't find one & my friend was doing that for her bday I decided to make it myself. That place is cool for stuff like that (though rather expensive if you ask me, lol).

Oh good! Your foot! I'm so happy.
I'll have to play laser tag with my cats at night. Do you have a laser pointer? Best darn cat toy there ever was.
