Princess on the Brink, Princess Mia, and Forever Princess by Meg Cabot
The last three installments of the Princess Diaries series. I sort of lost interest in the middle of the series, which is why I hadn't read books 8 and 9 before, but all three of these were great. Some rough, real things happen to Mia - not the silly, unrealistic problems of most of the other books - and she learns to handle them with true princessy grace. I felt proud of and happy for her when it was all said and done. :) Also, I'll admit to tearing up a little at the end.

Little Pink Slips by Sally Koslow
This novel is the anti-Devil Wears Prada - it's about a New York magazine editor, but this one is down-to-earth and likable. When her magazine is taken over and remodeled by a trashy celebrity, she has to fight for her job and figure out where it all went wrong. I really enjoyed it. As far as characterization goes, it almost read like a Laurie Colwin book (that's a compliment).

Miss Match, Rematch, and Match Point by Erynn Mangum
moredetailsJessica loaned me this chick-lit trilogy. I posted about it over at [livejournal.com profile] christianreader. Lauren is a caffeine-addicted photography assistant who loves to make matches among her friends and family, but doesn't ever expect to get married herself. Well, you can guess how that turns out. :) Although a few things about the series bugged me, I generally liked it a lot, which I guess is obvious since I read it all in about a week.

The Good Husband of Zebra Drive by Alexander McCall Smith
Book 8 in the Ladies' Detective Agency series. This one had some interesting twists, with established characters doing unexpected things. I love these books. Even though they all have similar themes, each one seems fresh.
