September Book List
Oct. 1st, 2009 10:47 amThis month's book list is lame, since I've hardly had time to sleep, let alone read. I'm current on my Entertainment Weeklys, though...do I get a gold star for that? :P
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte (e-book)
I read an article about the re-issuing of this as "Edward and Bella's Favorite Book" (which isn't exactly true), and thought maybe I should finally read it. WHY do people love this book? The characters are completely selfish and hateful. The events are disturbing and horrible. I hated almost everything about it. Bleah.
Mistborn: The Final Empire and The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson
Brandon Sanderson was selected to finish the Wheel of Time series after Robert Jordan died. Our friend Matt, a fellow WOT fan, read his original trilogy right after the announcement to see whether he was a good choice. Recently he insisted we read it too. I wasn't too enthused about it until Evan came home from work, threw the third book down in front of me, and said, "Best ending to ANY. Fantasy. Series. EVER." Considering the number of fantasy series we've read, I decided I should start immediately. The story itself is kind of hard to describe, but it's very good and I've enjoyed it. I'm about 2/3 through the last book, so you'll see that one next month. And I think Sanderson was the perfect choice to replace Jordan, for many reasons.

Discussion question: should cookbooks count as books read?
