So we're throwing a bridal shower for Emily on Saturday, and I'm hardly nervous or stressed at all. Clearly I don't have a good grasp of the situation. :P My best idea so far has been to make marble magnet sets as game prizes. I made a few sets, and then Kathy got interested and has been a marble-making machine ever since. I got some Altoid-type tins online, and we're going to put the magnet sets in them and tie them with ribbon. Yay for original party favors. :)

I've noticed that "yellow" is not a popular adjective in the clothing world (catalogs especially). A shirt is never yellow; it's "sunrise" or "marigold" or "lemonade." They do that with all colors, but yellow seems especially avoided. What's up with that?

I got a spam e-mail today from "Jessie Ramsey." Poor girl. I guess she couldn't pay rent on her income from the Baby-Sitters Club.

  1. Yellow.
I think the problem is that "yellow" as an adjective means "spineless and cowardly". Also, many shades of yellow are unattractive and uncomfortably reminiscent of the earth-tones of the 70's.

  2. Party favors.
I think it's so cool that you're making your own instead of just taking the easy way out and buying a bunch at the store. And your marble magnets are neat--Jessica had them on her fridge all the time.

  3. Diet Vanilla Coke.
    Yum.

Good point on the yellow. I don't think of the word that way, though. It's a fun word.

Thanks. :) I like making them. It's addictive. Kathy's are a lot nicer than mine, though, so I'm kind of discouraged now. But I don't guess most people will notice a difference.

You imagine songs that have never been played....

Sorry, couldn't help but sing along and fill in the next line in that song. :-) But I think "imagine" may be the wrong word - I'm not sure.

Oh my goodness! What a fun survey. :-) Enjoyed reading your answers! I'd venture to say that we have a lot in common. *winks* I might snag this!

Hope you have a fun time at the bridal shower. *hugs*

And hey, I amen what you said about The Wonder Years! That was truly one of the best shows ever. :-)

It really was! Just brilliant. The few times I've caught an old episode over the last few years, it was way funnier than when I watched it as a child. WHY have they not released it on DVD yet?

My favorite episode is "The Double Double Date" (I think that's what it's called) when Kevin and Winnie go on a double date, both of them with other people, and end up getting hilariously mad at each other the whole time. It was one of the later ones.

Aw, yes! They should really release the show on DVD. It's just an amazing, amazing program. Absolutely. :-) And it's so easy to catch things we might've missed, when we were kids! I agree about that, too. :-)

LOL! I think I remember that episode! :-)

Ahh... "The Wonder Years." That was a *great* show. I just saw an old episode with David Schwimmer that made me chuckle. I'd love to have DVDs of that show, but I imagine it would cost a fortune to get the rights to use all of the music for a commercial release. And, let's face it, the music was a staple in the series and it wouldn't be the same if different music was used. I still remember Kevin & Winnie dancing to "You Are Everything" by the Stylistics. =)

I think too many of your LJ friends have read the babysitters club and that is slightly disturbing! :P

The title of your log reminded me of a book I have read - It said that in heaven their were thousands of colours that we don't have on earth because all things in heaven are far and above those on earth - interesting thought.

Survey was cool - I will probably steal it :)
