My trip-recap entry is taking forever to write, so here's a more current one in the meantime. I've felt a little overwhelmed by various things over the last couple of weeks, but today I'm in a better mood and feel like listing some good things.

- Work has been very busy. Yes, this is a good thing, even though it keeps me from working on aforesaid trip entry. I like it when I have actual work to do...it makes my little fears about job security go away.

- Kathy called me last night. Yay!

- Since I got back, Gandalf has been a changed cat. Kathy, Debra, and Ryan all spent time with him last week, so he was never left to starve, but he'd definitely never been alone that much before. It seems that he doesn't want independence after all. :) He's been allowing me to pet him, following me from room to room, meowing happily when I come home, and even sleeping next to me at night. This is how I thought it would be to have a cat. Amazing!

- I finally applied for my passport today.

- Evan bought a car this afternoon! His parents have loaned him (us) some money so he can get a car that won't fall apart. He was off work today, so he went to look at some dealerships that he'd looked at before. Guess what he got? A VW Cabriolet! My dream car!!! It's red, which makes me nervous about the insurance rate, but...it's a Cabriolet! Please pray with us that nothing will happen to this car. I'm planning to pray over it...I'm totally serious. Because if this one gets smashed, I have absolutely no idea what we'll do. This car HAS to last. I'll stop there because this is supposed to be a happy post. :P

- We're going to McAlister's tonight! I will have a chicken grill salad to celebrate the occasion. You have no idea how glad I am to be back in the land of iced tea. I had exactly one good glass of tea in New England. I've probably drunk about three gallons since we got back. One can only take so much Diet Coke.

Happy belated birthday, unpoedicHannah! You are well-loved. :)

I don't think red cars have that big of an impact on insurance rates. It hasn't for me.

Wow, really? That's good to know. I was always told it made it much more expensive. Maybe that was just my dad's version. :P

A dream guy and a dream car... sounds like a pretty nice combo. (-; What year is the car?

It'd be cool if you lived in Washington, but they really don't have iced tea here, either. At least, not anything remotely comparable to McAlister's.

It's a '95. I get to see it tomorrow when we go to pick it up!

Seattle is high on my list, so hopefully I can make it out there at some point. :)

Yay! I'm having sort of a hard time getting excited, though. I feel like, "Okay, we'll have it for three weeks, it'll get smashed, and we'll do this again." :(

Yea Happy Kitty!
I'm jealous, mine have been absolutely terrible lately. We are amidst a food change and they are being very whiny about it. Plus the strain of caring for 2 dogs/2 cats by myself is about to do me in!
Yea Iced Tea!
I always feel that way when we come back from an overseas trip, esp because they don't really ICE anything, tea or soda!

I know!! How do people survive without ice? I guess it's a matter of taste, but I can't stand lukewarm drinks. :P

Texas isn't much better. They really don't know how to make good tea out here. Well, there are a few exceptions... my future mother in law makes the BEST TEA EVER!

I've done a laying on of hands on my vehicles before. Remember the Lumina? It really enhanced my prayer life driving a clunker... But in regards to the new car... God orders our steps in the way that HE chooses... and His plans are perfect... So just breathe a deep breath and rest in that thought. *hugs*

I think it's just that the water is generally so bad there. Bleah.

LOL! Thanks. I need that thought. *hugs*

Did Evan pick that car because he knows it's your dream car? 'Cause when Josh got his Santa Fe, I thought he picked it because he truly loved it. But he confessed to me a month or so ago that he only picked it because he knew I was absolutely crazy over it (it's my dream car, man!). He did of course like the car.....just not as much as me. I thought it was way sweet that he picked it because I liked it:)

I think it had something to do with it, but he likes it too. His plan is to eventually, in a few years, get a truck (like a Ranger or something) and give the Cabrio to me. :) Unfortunately, it's a stick, but he thinks this is how he's going to convince me to learn to drive a stick. I'm skeptical. I can't imagine how I'd ever be anything other than stressed driving a stick. It's the thought that counts, though. :)

That's funny, Josh wants to get a Hyundai Tiburon in the future, stick shift. He wants me to learn how to drive it. Men and stick shift, I tell ya.

I'm glad your kitty is being so affectionate now! :-)

Cool car! I love those little VW's. I will say a special prayer that nothing happens to it!
