happy times
May. 6th, 2002 09:48 amThis was a pretty happy weekend.
Friday night, we went to Spider-Man. It was wonderful. I'm looking forward to seeing it again. :) All the actors did a great job; the Green Goblin was really scary, and I've never been able to say that about a comic-book-movie villain. And the ending left me ready for the sequel. (Throughout the movie, when Tobey Maguire would say something sweet to MJ, we girls would poke the guys and whisper, "Take notes!" At the end, we started whispering frantically, "Don't take notes!")
Saturday night, Kathy and I rented Bridget Jones' Diary. We were settling in to watch it when Ryan called. He was bored and said he was coming over. "Um, we're going to watch Bridget Jones' Diary. I don't think you want to watch that." "Yes, I do! I'm coming over!" "Okay, well... don't say we didn't warn you..." He came over. He watched the movie. He was bored. He went home. :) I didn't like the movie that much, which is probably a crime against my gender, but really, I didn't. It wasn't like the book, and I am a book-movie purist.
Yesterday I went to my parents' house, and got to spend some time with my dad and sister and Bun. Debra and I went shopping for a Mother's Day present. We talked about her upcoming senior pictures. The studio she is going to allows you to take your photo with a small pet, so we were discussing having her take one with Bun. Suddenly I was like, "Wouldn't it be funny to have professional photos taken of Bun?" and we couldn't stop laughing. I'm still laughing about it now. "Okay, Bun, tilt your head a little to the right...turn your ears ... paws under your chin... that's good..."
Well, we thought it was funny.
I also watched parts of Jay and Silent Bob Friday night, because Evan wanted me to see it. I don't get the whole Kevin Smith thing. I can see how his movies are funny, but they are so bad. I mean, when you have to fast forward through half the movie to get to the non-depraved funny parts, what's the point? I asked Evan about this, but he couldn't explain it. Can someone enlighten me?

Jay and Silent Bob is worse than most and really is aimed at the Kevin Smith fanbase because of all the inside jokes. I've seen that, Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, and the Clerks Animated Series (I have the whole series, 6 episodes on DVD). Being a comic book fan I can relate to a lot of the in-jokes and stuff. Kevin Smith is a huge comic book nut. :)
