My work bridal shower on Friday was great. We got two china place settings, some giftcards, a canister set, and our comforter!! A bunch of co-workers went in together to get it for us. I was so glad and surprised, because it was the most expensive thing on our registry and I doubted we'd get it. Now we won't be comforterless. Yay! When the party was over, I went to my parents' so my mom could alter my dress. After the good weight report last week, I was shocked that the dress was snug in the stomach area. :( My mom said I'm not allowed to gain any more (!) weight because she can't take the dress out. I felt like a whale. So now I have to lose a few pounds, which I am terrible at because I already exercise and eat reasonably. Myla told me about a green tea diet she's trying. She heard that if you drink a cup of green tea per day, you can lose a pound a week. I have just under seven weeks, so if it works even half that well, I'm good to go. I bought some Celestial Seasonings Wellness Tea and had my first cup this morning. It was really good, and it even says on the box that it boosts metabolism. Here's hoping.

On Saturday I went to the homecoming game with Ryan, Luke and Myla, and their brother (Evan was at work). The Tigers played well and we won 41-14! It's the first time we've won homecoming in at least seven years. Go Tigers go! After the game, Ryan went to the fair with me since I hadn't been yet. We completed my short list of things I wanted to do (ride the Ferris wheel, eat pineapple whip, go to the crafts building, and visit the petting zoo). He insisted that there weren't any show bunnies this year, but we went to the barn where they usually are, and they had about 30 bunnies. Some of them were for sale, and I was so, so tempted to take one home. I miss Bun.

Any Smallville fans around here (I already know about you, [livejournal.com profile] calypsobard :))? They're showing it on FX now and we watched a few episodes on Saturday night. I think I could very easily get hooked on it.

Sunday was fun, largely because Evan didn't have to work. A whole day together! Our Sunday school lesson was about debt, and we had a good discussion about it on the way to lunch. Later, at home, Evan decided to fix one thing and it turned into a whole afternoon of fixing up the apartment. He easily fixed things that have been messed up as long as I've lived there. We dusted, freshened up, and talked about what we're going to change when he moves in. I felt guilty for doing housework on Sunday, but for once it energized me instead of tiring me out. I look forward to having a home with him. :)

Today is okay. My stomach feels bad - I ate a big piece of leftover cake yesterday and haven't felt right since. Other than that, things are going well. I don't have anything else to talk about, so I now return you to your regular lives.

With all the work you've put into keeping your weight where it should be, it seems really unfair that even though you're where you should be (or even below, as you recently mentioned) in that department that you'd have dress troubles (and worse, that your mom seems to be a little insensitive about it). You really deserve to have no problems at all there. I'm sure that Evan will be stunned no matter how perfectly you fit into the dress.

Isn't cleaning and fixing more fun when you feel like you're cleaning and fixing in preparation for something good? (-:

Sounds like you had a fun weekend. The wedding shower had to be exciting...

Good luck with the weight loss...it seems like you are already doing so well with it. Keep up the good work and hopefully you can get rid of what you need to so you are comfortable in your dress.

Wasn't the Fair fun?

We went to the Little Buckaroo's barn and the kids petted a baby bunny. They were so tickled!

My vest took 3rd place, and the yellow, white & blue star afghan that was draped over the corner of the screen (both were in the case in the middle, facing the east door)

And the wedding shower sounds like great fun.
Hang in there. Around my wedding, I got to running so hard that I lost 10 lbs and my dress was too loose on me.

I looked for things with dragon heads, but I couldn't remember what you made that had the dragon heads on it. :) Glad you placed, though!

That's a lovely comforter! How exciting that they got that for you! And the fair sounds fun too.

Good luck on the green tea diet! That must be frustrating with the dress and all. I'm sure you look beautiful no matter what!

I love Smallville! Steven loves it even more. He likes all things Superman. :) The earlier shows are a lot better than the current so enjoy those on FX. We watch it now just cause we're still hooked, but it's not nearly as good as it was in the beginning. I hate how that happens to some shows.
I hope your mom isn't usually as insensitive as it sounds... I hate it when my mom bugs me about my weight. It can be really hurtful. *hugs* You are beautiful and so is your dress, Evan will be floored by you no matter what!

Thanks. :) She tends to be like that about a lot of things. It's been really bad lately...I guess the wedding is stressing her out. Sometimes I get upset about it, but most of the time I try not to think about it.

Hrm... green tea diet is good. Another thing you might want to do is cut out sugar as much as you can, at least for a while. Stacye's suggestion on her journal was good too.

I gave Mattie the invitation on Friday. You rock because you gave us our first piece of mail as a couple! =D I'm going to beg my boss to see if she'll let me off of work so I can go.

Cut out sugar?! *sob* :) See, I'm a total diet wimp. I have no idea how to lose weight since I'm careful already. I get all depressed at the thought of losing my few culinary joys. It'll probably be okay, though.

This reminds me, I've been meaning to make a post about foods I miss (from high school days when I could eat whatever I wanted).

Mmmm... I really miss french onion dip & ruffled potato chips, then eating some chocolate chip cookie dough. That was back in pregnancy days, though. In high school I ate less than I do now.

Smallville is on ABC Family on weeknights. There was a marathon of it on Saturday, as well as a backstage special about it with interviews with cast members.

Oh my goodness, that comforter is GORGEOUS! I adore blue on blue tones, just to look at it makes me happy and peaceful. And that asian-inspired pattern is particularly lovely and simple. Great, I want it now.

LOL! Thanks. We looked and looked, and that was the only one we really liked. Comforters are so overdone these days. They all had fancy embroidery and flimsy stuff on the top. The cat would destroy that in a second. :P

Green tea and old cake....hmmm. ;)

I watched Smallville once. I thought it was downright creepy! This girl was running around eating people. Every time I see a preview for the show it seems like one of those slutty teen shoes like Dawson's Creek - another one I never watched. Am I wrong?

You're very lucky to get your comforter! Usually parents' friends want to get you things that will last forever (we got every single place setting of our china, and loads of pretty "junk" from Babcock's and Gifts and Art), but don't get the things you really need, like pillows and towels. I'm using some gift cards and returns to get our comforter set this week sometime.

Comforters rock. They're comfortable.

Btw, I want to say I am glad to have your journal to read.. I probably sound like a weirdo in saying that, haha, but it's great to see a Christ-centered marriage! =) I haven't ever really witnessed one all too much. I have but I haven't.. at least not the preperations and stuff! I dunno. =) But I pray it all works out wonderfully and that we get tons of pictures, haha.
