Since fashiony posts seem to be the order of the day: I've spent a chunk of my afternoon reading the archives of You Look Fab. It's a blog by a down-to-earth woman who works in the fashion industry. alissamarieAlissa recommended it and I definitely agree. I especially like her term "pretty pear" for pear-shaped body types. Yay for positive reinforcement. :)

I don't understand how most people can afford to stay fashionable. The whole system seems to be designed for the rich.

I realized at lunchtime that my entire outfit came from New York & Company. That's happening more and more frequently. :)

Unrelated, but I've been pondering it for a while: I'm bummed that our society is too PC to use the term "Mrs." anymore. After almost two years of marriage I'm still Ms. at work, on all my mail, and for any other official stuff. I only get Mrs. in church correspondence. Weird.

Just wait a few years. After you been married 9 1/2 years (like me), you get called "M'am." ;)

That's why I don't. I just buy anything that I like and is on sale. :) Kohl's is a great place for both. I like NY&Co. to browse but they're expensive.

Oh, and I really really like that dark red wrap shirt at the bottom of the first page of the You Look Fab website.

NY&Co is expensive, but if you wait for the sales you can get great stuff. That's what I do. I have maybe two full-price items. :)

I was actually thinking today that the majority of my clothes are covered by Ebay, bargain stores or sale items.

It's not a bad way to be.

** Ebay is the way forward - - - sell your old/unwanted clothes - buy new ones with the money.

Do you know, we didn't get a NY & Co in NYC until this past spring.

NY & Co.

Where they name pants after the different neighborhoods in Manhattan.

::shakes head:: You can see how New York based they actually are! :)

I love that site as well. The writer is so reasonable about fashion. I love how she is cautious about skinny pants and the other scary 80's fashion trends that are coming back.

YES. It's refreshing to see someone being cautious about it. :)

I agree. I love "What Not To Wear." The people on there are always saying that the reason they don't buy nice, fashionable clothes is because they think their clothes are fine, or that they can't find clothes that fit them, or something like that. I would say, "I would love to buy fashionable clothes, but I don't have the MONEY!"

I agree. Whenever I look in my closet all I want to do is just go shopping for a bunch of new clothes..but that requires a big chunk of money that I don't really have.

At work I don't get addressed by Ms or Miss very often, most people just call me by my first name.

Yeah, co-workers call me by my first name, but clients usually call me Ms.

I ran across some ballet icons (http://community.livejournal.com/graphic_sl/17308.html) that made me think of you. :)

Hehe. I realized today and one other day this past week that my entire outfit came from thrift stores. And no one but me and anyone I bragged to would know, because I looked darn cute, if I do say so myself! ;oD

Good for you! I used to get all my clothes from thrift stores...I just don't have time to go and pick through things anymore. :)

Yeah, it does take quite a while, since you have to look through the stuff and then try on a million different brands in varying sizes. But if ya have the time, it's great!
